The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way we travel, but it hasn't done away with our enthusiasm for exploring. Here are some tips on how to cope with travel's new challenges:

• Before booking your flight, find out if any travel restrictions apply — in both your origin and destination. Get up-to-date information by checking government travel advisories.
• Requirements state that you must wear a face mask at the airport, including at screening checkpoints. Be prepared to lower your mask for identification purposes when asked by a TSA employee.
• You're no longer required to hand your boarding pass directly to a TSA employee. Instead, place your pass on the reader and then hold it up to allow the agent to visually inspect it.
• TSA now allows passengers to take one container of hand sanitizer, up to 12 oz (350 ml) in size, in carry-on luggage. This will need to be removed from your bag for screening.
• Place any personal items (like your phone and wallet) in your carry-on rather than a bin to reduce handling during screening.
• If you want to take food through the screening checkpoint, place it in a clear plastic bag and then into a screening bin. This lessens the likelihood that a TSA agent will need to touch your carry-on bag or food container for closer inspection.
