We go there every year

We have an annual Paso Wine Tasting week-end every May. For the last several years we have returned to the "Somm House" every year. The place is large, well appointed, comfortable, all on one floor, and easily accomodates 8 adults.

Beautiful and quiet location with views for days!

It was a beautiful home with very comfortable beds, we had perfect weather, the neighbors were kind and views for days! We loved the roaming young dog and barn cats that were friendly. We would have liked more to the outdoor BBQ area, including a new properly working BBQ, all the patio chairs were rotted and sitting around in a pile, the front door didn’t feel secure as the threshold needs to be repaired badly, broken down living room furniture was not comfy seating and was the Refridgerator water/ice makers were not working along with the water filter spicket at the sink. It was a very spacious and esthetically beautiful experience for our sons Graduation from Cal Poly SLO and we were so thankful to have reserved this home long over 1 year in advance. It just needs a little TLC.

Weekend get away

We had a weekend get away for 4 couples and this home was perfect fit for our group! Loved the three bedrooms with their own ensuites and the outdoor space with the heated patio! Had a small issue getting the lock box opened for the key but Michael had someone over in two minutes to help us get it open. The dog on site is so cute and super friendly and will chase that ball for hours. We would book this home again.

Beautiful Views

We enjoyed the views from this spacious house. Plenty of bedrooms for 3 couples and nice living spaces. We were very comfortable at this house. Would visit again.

Concert & Wine tasting

Excellent venue. Exquisite home & vistas. Celebrated a family’s birthday & thoroughly enjoyed Paso Robles. People were kind & wonderful. Restaurants & wine visits were outstanding. Concert arena was superb.

This is a great place

We have a group of friends that meet in Paso Robles for a long wine tating weekend. We have been repeat renters of this property for several year and plan to continue.

Very impressed

First thing we noticed about the Sommelier House is how exquisitely designed and decorated it is. Also very clean and many attentions to small details like cotton swabs/balls in bathrooms. Kitchen is well equipped and pantry has many spices either from hosts or previous guests. Owners Mike and Philip provided excellent details about our stay. Expansive views from the patio is spectacular. We definitely hope to return soon.

Excellence at the Somm House

We were delighted with the Somm house! Everything was exactly as advertised, plus more! Fabulous location, awesome accommodations and a wonderful kitchen! There are two beautiful and friendly cats who hang outside. Would recommend to all!

Wine weekend

Very nice property! Great views and lots of space to spread out. There were just us and one other couple so we really had lots of room. This was our second trip to this property and will definitely rent it again!

Memorable stay at Somm house in Paso Robles

Stayed at the Sommelier house with a group of friends, in total 7. The house was above and beyond the pictures. Kitchen is very well stocked with plates, glasses etc. Rooms and entire home elegantly appointed. Host left us a lovely bottle of their wine and gave us a complimentary wine tasting at Asuncion Ridge vineyard, Rolling hills views are beautiful. Everything we wanted to do was within a 12 to 15 min drive. We would very much want to go back to this home at a future stay.

Perfect for Girls Get-away

Beautiful house in a wonderful location. Fully stocked kitchen. Comfy beds. Clean. Lovely views. Enjoyed sitting on the back patio using the heat lights when it got chilly and cuddling up with the two cats. Convenient to Paso Robles shopping, restaurants and wine tours. Also convenient to beaches (30-45 min away). We thoroughly enjoyed our time staying here.

This house is positively gorgeous -- luxurious furnishings, amazing kitchen, perfect views from the patio, a full outdoor kitchen. Every bedroom was a masterpiece. We lingered in all the common areas for hours. Wonderful hosts. We've booked our return for a year from now.

Fabulous girls weekend

The house is absolutely perfect! The booking process was the easiest I have ever experienced booking through HomeAway! The communication with the owner/property manager was fast and friendly. The location is perfect and the property grounds are beautiful! We hiked ate at great restaurants, wine tasted and really enjoyed just hanging out at the house in front of the fireplace! Oh and the beds are so comfortable! 5 Stars all the way. Looking back to returning next year!

My wine peeps weekend

Group of (8), some including my self have stayed here before and loved it just as much the second time. Spacious and clean, great kitchen and patio for entertaining. Highly recommend if you want to be over on the S/E side, quite and remote, but a lot to discover over there. A few detours, due to recent flooding did effect us, however. But still a fantastic time. Thanks

Beautiful house, quiet surroundings

there were 8 of us friends that stayed here for a weekend of wine tasting. The house was huge and it was terrific that there were 4 bathrooms to go with the 4 rooms. Quiet area but still close to market. Had complimentary wine tasting at the Asuncion Ridge Wine tasting room and this was terrific and the staff was very nice. Loved the outside area! There was plenty of room for all of us. Nice big kitchen but we did have a little problem with the larger stove. Despite a few little things that needed fixing, we all agreed that we would like to stay here again!

Great Serene Location in Country

The location was wonderful. It's with 10 - 15 minutes of Paso Robles and feels very much isolated. The other homes on acreage are quiet and allows a serene experience. It's perfect for 3-4 couples or could even be a holiday destination. Phillip was excellent in communication and responsiveness. If you're looking for the Ritz, don't schedule. If you're looking for beautiful, well maintained in country living, it's perfect. We loved sitting on back patio, seeing stars at night and enjoying the neighborhood cats. They will meow a lot but when ignored they go hunting some where else. It's delightful and highly recommend staying.

Wining in Paso

We were 3 couples that love Paso wine and one of us loves Paso beer. The house was very comfortable. Beds were excellent. AC worked and was much needed. One day got to 107. The kitchen was totally functional and easily accommodated our group. Thoroughly enjoyed the outdoor seating area. It cold off nicely at night. There you will meet the local cats. Friendly felines. We appreciated that rev of the 3 bedrooms we used had its own bathroom. One of the benefits was a complimentary tasting at the host winery, Asuncion Ridge. As an aside, we did our own personal GSM tasting and the Asuncion Ridge won! Stiff competition with Epoch and Robert Hall. We will definitely check the availability of the Somm House on our next stay!

Excellent space for group and beautiful

We had 7 adults (3 couples) and the 4 bedrooms worked well. The space is ample for kitchen, dining, relaxing, & outdoor space. Fairly short drive into town for dinner, shopping, wineries, etc. Used Uber a few times and it worked well. There are a couple of outdoor cats on the property which made most of us cat lovers happy. Utilized the outdoor grill, though the starter wasn't working so we used a lighter torch. There is a grassy area below the grill, and short path/driveway where you can get your morning walk in. And goats to entertain. The kitchen was well stocked with cookware, dishes, glassware and wine glasses. During our visit, there was no ice maker/ice, external water dispenser, and the wine refrigerator was not working. If this is important to travelers, perhaps check with host first. Host was very quick to reply to text msgs. The master bedroom is huge with windows/views. There was a challenge figuring out the hot/cold temperature on the shower in the master as it has a dial with 70-100 degrees on it, though I could not see that without glasses on. Eventually figured it out. Like any place, there can be learning curves. We did not use the TVs at all, so no comment there. We did not see a washer or dryer. There was a lovely bottle of wine for us in the kitchen we we enjoyed. We were also comped a tasting at the Asuncion Ridge winery. Group agreed we would stay here again when in the area.

Wine Country Retreat

I'm going to be very honest and explain why we gave this property an overall rating of "4". The property is very well maintained, and has wonderful views, mostly from the north side of the property. There are vast open ranchlands with a smattering of oak trees, which become your outside views as you sit at a large outside table for dining, or on another level with outdoor couches and chairs for an evening cocktail. The owner provided a complimentary bottle of very good wine, and free tastings at their vineyards' tasting room. There is a very large backyard where we were able to play lawn games. The art in the house is wonderful, and the very large dining room table could seat 12 comfortably. All of the rooms were clean and very comfortable. -Please be aware, the the bedroom with the queen bed does not have an ensuite bathroom, you have to walk down the hallway to access the bathroom for this bedroom. The 3 king bed rooms were quite spacious. The cleaning crew was quite helpful upon our arrival. Here's where the "4" comes in (all of which can be corrected). The large refrigerator was broken, and did not work. They placed a smaller refrigerator in front of a deck access door, however it was not hooked up to a water supply, thus no ice. We were not told before arrival about this, and had to travel to a store to purchase ice. 3 of the bathrooms only had 2 sets of towels, clearly not enough for a 4 day stay. There were no trash cans provided near the house, thus you had to drive your garbage to the property's trash receptacles way down the driveway. The barbeque grill on the deck did not work, "parts were on order". This greatly affected one of our planned dinners at home. The refrigerator not functioning and the grill not working should have been communicated to us by the manager. There was one bedroom that did not have a smoke detector. The photos on the VRBO site do not show another rental property located about 20 feet from the main house. Nor, does it show the other adjacent buildings very close by, also occupied. These did not affect our stay, however it would have been nice to know they were there. There are 2 cats that are very friendly, and come to the house very frequently. It would have been nice to know this, also with a statement like, "please do not feed the cats or let them in the house, as they are very well taken care of", which appeared to be the case. Fortunately, none in our group were allergic to cats.

Gorgeous property with lovely views, and a cat.

We loved the spacious layout of this house. The patio in back was spacious and offer wonderful views. The little outdoor kitty was entertaining as well.
