Thank you to Theresa and Brian who made us feel very welcome, on arrival we were shown around the cottage and shown where everything was and how it all worked. A nice touch were the scones with homemade jam, which were so good. The Cottage is in a great location to stay while on holiday in the north lakes It is located in a nice, idyllic and quiet spot with fantastic views of the mountains The cottage was really wonderful to stay at, the beds were so comfortable and the gardens are well maintained which all made up an enjoyable stay. We have been spoilt with finding this Cottage and holidaying here, we had a fantastic time and we would love to book it again in the future

We loved our visit to red syke cottage.

We loved our visit to red syke cottage. The owners made us feel very welcome and the cottage was very clean and well equipped. There are lovely gardens which are shared with the owners and the location is remote and quiet, with lovely views over the hills. There is a resident red squirrel and some grouse which visit the gardens. There is a pub a couple of minutes drive away but no other shops or amenities. Its a 15 minute drive to the nearest supermarket. The only downsides was the main double bed was a little uncomfortable and could do with being king size and there is no washing machine, however the owners will do small loads but for the week we were there they were away on holiday. The decor was a little dated but in keeping with the country cottage feel.

Our first visit to Red Syke, and we were so pleased with the cottage.

Our first visit to Red Syke, and we were so pleased with the cottage. The location was peaceful and the views from the cottage were superb, but only 15 minutes away from Keswick and Penrith. The owners live in the adjoining cottage and were friendly and welcoming without being intrusive on our holiday. We had a warm welcome - a lovely touch was the milk, scones, butter and homemade jam. The cottage itself was spotless and had everything we needed. We visit the Lake District regularly and have stayed at many cottages - Red Syke is definitely our favourite, and we will be returning.

Red Syke cottage was a fantastic base to explore the North Lakes from for our brief stay.

Red Syke cottage was a fantastic base to explore the North Lakes from for our brief stay. The views from the cottage are spectacular, washing-up is no chore with the amazing views of Blencathra as well as close-up visits from the resident red-squirrel. Inside the cottage is really cosy, comfy, well-equipped and sparklingly clean and also a really comfy nights sleep! The cottage looks and feels really remote but is under a 15minutes drive from the great Horse and Farrier pub at Threlkeld and supermarkets, etc. in Penrith. Theresa and Brian couldn’t have been more welcoming; all-in-all we can’t recommend highly enough!
