"Lovely welcome from Pascal, he made sure we knew where everything was and where to go in Pickering for an evening meal, we were then treated to homemade canapés and a glass of fizz! Room was comfortable and we slept well during our stay. We pre ordered our breakfast from a good choice of menu and there were also cereals, fruit, yogurt & juice on our table. Pascal also makes his own sourdough bread which was delicious. Would stay again and maybe book onto one of his sourdough courses!"

"Surprisingly roomy cottage, ideal for solo travellers or families up to four. Great location for exploring wonderful North Yorkshire, lots to see and do. Cottage is cosy with beautiful finishes. I can highly recommend 4 Smiddy Hill for a short break or longer stay."

"Beautiful cottage - ideally situated for exploring North Yorkshire. Like a home from home with everything you need to cater for yourself, although the town has several nice restaurants to choose from. Hosts are on site if you need them although we had no problems. The cottage we stayed in (Bransdale) had a lovely private garden for us to sit in with a little blackbird family coming in and out. Just perfect."

"Everything was clean and the cottage had everything you needed for a stay. The parking was a bit tight as it was in a courtyard, but I never had any issues. Walking distance to the centre of the town where all the shops and two supermarkets are available."

"Central location. Kitchen and bathroom clean and modern - great shower. Only negative was the skylight in the double bedroom under the eaves, which needs a blackout blind in summer. I rigged up a towel over it, which helped. Hopefully the owner will have rectified this, best to check unless you’re a heavy sleeper! But overall a great place to stay."

"The house is in a fantastic location with ample off-road parking at the rear. The home is very well-equipped, and is ideal for a longer stay (we stayed a week). There is a great bakery virtually next door called 'Amazing Graze', a brilliant butcher about 100 yds away, and the Black Swan pub next door to the butchers is excellent for drinks, ambiance and food. The picture on the TV in the first lounge tends to pixelate, so we watched in the other, leather sofa, lounge on the SMART TV instead. The fact the cupboard door doesn't fit on the fridge door is a bit annoying and the house instructions aren't clear and are out-of-date. Put the general waste bin (green wheelie) out on a Wednesday for early collection on Thursday. For recycling, use the collection skips in the car park by Lidl.Overall, we loved the house and had a great stay!"
