"The restaurant the room was attached to was good but it seemed like the owner as an afterthought decided to let out rooms. My room was small and shabby. The bathroom was just as tiny. The old satin machine-quilted bedcover had seen better days and its underside had rust stains. The mattress was old and somewhat lumpy. It wouldn’t take much to update the room - a new bed and new sheets and coverlet would work wonders. Staff did their best to be accommodating. The main advantage of this place is...

"I wish I could give it more than 5 stars! The outdoor amenities are the real highlight -- we used the hot tub and the sauna every night. (If only the pool had been heated too!). Location was great, and we fell in love with Spello (and the local restauranteurs who were open during the off season--La Bottega di Teresa near the main square was our favorite and the owners are wonderful!). Andrea, the host, was tremendously kind and helpful leading up to, during, and after our stay. He even assisted with arranging a private chef for a specatuclar meal. A couple of notes to prepare yourself: Parking is VERY far from the house, at the bottom of the hill, and the elevators are currently under repair so you have a substantial hike uphill to get to the house. We had an injured member of our party, and it definitely caused us to have to think through logistics more than anticipated. Spello is so remote and the train station is at the bottom, so I don't know how you'd realistically explore without a car--not a problem, just worth noting since the parking is tough. If you plan to use the amenities, consider bringing extra towels with you--because we used the hot tub every night, towels and robes were constantly wet so it wasn't too pleasant getting out of the shower. (And we couldn't figure out if the washing machine was also a dryer or how to use it.) We'd stay here again in a heartbeat (and hope to)! Thank you so much!! "
"Very helpful staff, beautiful room, lots of breakfast options (and good coffee), about 20 minutes walk from the old town, very close to a big Coop supermarket.
About €13-15 to/from the train station
We really enjoyed our short stay."
Farmhouse holidays in Umbria, the green heart of Italy, amongst art and nature
10/10 Excellent
"We loved our stay in this beautiful house. It is even bigger and prettier than it looked online and was super clean and well equipped. Worth noting, however, that there staff are present onsite every day so it didn’t feel like we had the place fully to ourselves. There is also only one taxi company so it was tricky to get places without car spaces for the full group."
"We had a wonderful stay at B&B Villamena! It is thoughtfully decorated down to each detail, has a beautiful patio with a refreshing swimming pool, and a generous and delicious breakfast. The location was perfect. Free parking across the street and an easy short walk to the main parts of Spello. Spello itself is a gorgeous and charming town! One of the best I have visited in all of Italy. The host had great recommendations for restaurants, wineries and excursions in Umbria. The room was marvelous with a comfortable bed, great shower and AC, and nice and quiet. Quite spacious as well. We loved our visit and hope to return again! "
