"It’s a fantastic lodge in the middle of the kungör. The cabins are very rustic, but has electricity and a private bathroom. Wi-Fi in the public building. Good food, wine and beer in the restaurant. Nice tours in the jungle and fantastic personel. If you don’t expect a five star hotel, than you get a five star experience."

"Basic accommodations but clean. The staff takes good care of the visitors and made our stay comfortable. Secluded location but great for hiking and disconnecting from the busyness of day to day life. "

"We enjoyed the cabin; it was perfect for our needs. It might have been nice to have a chair in the cabin. But we were able to sit at the restaurant tables and use the wifi there. so all our needs were met! Thank you ! "

"Hidden gem for sure. House was beautiful and the property was stunning! We watched monkeys while drinking our morning coffee and there’s a beautiful cook shack to cook over the open fire. We also saw iguanas, squirrels and beautiful birds while walking around the property, looking at the waterfalls and river. Inside the house was just as beautiful. Rainfall shower head, beautiful wooden table and nice clean everything!!! "

"Beautiful setting and unique experience. The Toucan is very small and the ladder towards the top difficult to climb. Not for very young kids or kids afraid of heights like one of my daughters. The breakfast is freshly made and good although fairly basic (egg combination different every day with fresh fruits, single menu option). Wi-fi is unsteady but great at times. A/C cools the room downstairs quickly - it was hot but tolerable in the upper room. The walk to the river is great. The night tour was good but the guide was not a professionnal, rather a local person so not that knowledgeable about wildlife. The staff helps you get food delivered but the food we ordered was not great and the hustle to get it not ideal; that was the biggest disadvantage of the location in my opinion. Bring your snacks and drinks before you go! Also the tour with Juan Carlos are amazing and I highly recommend them to visit the area. A great rustic place overall!"
"Beautiful property and very charming. This was about 15-20 mins away from the pickup zone for excursions just to keep in mind. We saw beautiful birds and geckos on the property. We would definitely stay here again!!"
"We expected much more from this place, but of the five lodges we visited, this was the worst. Regarding the accommodation, we realized that the door could be opened with just a slight push, without even turning the handle, meaning anyone could enter the room even when the handle was locked. Furthermore, there was no water pressure for the shower, and the water had to be heated by a small heater built into the showerhead, but this gadget clearly didn't allow for temperature control; the water was either freezing cold or scalding hot. The room contained only two beds and a bedside table; there was no desk or table with a chair to set up a laptop and edit photos at the end of the day. As for activities, the only real draw of this place is birdwatching or photography, as there's nothing else to do in the area. We would have expected all the perches to be stocked with fruit and the hummingbird feeders to be full, but only one of the many perches had food, and the hummingbird feeders were all empty and were never refilled during our visit. They seemed more interested in selling us expensive paid tours: king vultures $75/person, macro with snakes and frogs $50/person, hummingbirds $65/person, small birds $30/person, bats $65/person. There are trails on the property, but they are not suitable for regular hiking boots and are extremely muddy; rubber boots are absolutely necessary. Considering the price of the overnight stays, we would have expected a little more from this place."
"This was our first time in La Fortuna and we loved the location of this rental home. It was about 15 minutes from downtown and had amazing views with beautiful gardens. The pool with Arenal in the background was breathtaking. However, we didn’t realize that only the bedrooms in this rental would have AC with the main part of the house (kitchen and living room) being more like a screened in porch. The bathrooms also had vents with screens to outside. It was a cool concept, but made it feel more like glamping than we were going for. Temperature wise, it was plenty cool in the main part of the house during the day because there was a great breeze blowing through the house; but, it definitely made it louder because the home is on a very busy road with lots of large truck traffic that is Jake braking until very late in the evening (we still heard them past 10 PM after we were already in bed). The kitchen is also very small, really only having enough room for one person at a time to be cooking or doing dishes. That being said, we still would return to this place just because of the pool and the views. The other two units were occupied yet we rarely saw the occupants other than a couple of times at the pool, making it feel like we had the whole place to ourself. Just bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper!"
"Staff were very helpful and friendly. The location is around 20 minutes from La Fortuna so car rental was needed. Beautiful secluded spot with a gorgeous terrace and small roof dipping pool/tub (villa cacao). Room had everything we needed and was very clean. We loved the terrace, complete with coffee maker and fridge under the breakfast bar. Breakfast was included and lovely. It was made fresh to order every morning in the main reception area. Tipico and pancakes were delicious. There were a few noisy trucks but nothing that would stop us staying again. We also took part in the chocolate tour with Nelson. He was excellent with our very inquisitive 5 and 8 year olds and answered all their questions (there were many). Waking up to feeling like you were in the middle of the jungle every morning and seeing fireflies dance at night from the seclusion of our terrace was a highlight for our family and will always be a fond memory of our Costa Rica adventure."
