David and Val were very accommodating and friendly. Nothing was oo much trouble for them. We had a lovely room - and breakfast is fantastic! A return is definitely on the cards.

Moan moan moan!!!
Pros: clean, comfortable sleep, Instant hot water, ample parking. Cons: little space around bed (a single bed would have been better in this space) No surface area for working, No chair of any type No food offering. ( I knew this before booking) No shelving other than window sill for bathroom stuff! No wifi, I don’t think Towels should be next to wash basin not other side of toilet. I didn’t see any information regarding nearby places for an evening meal. A general warning, accessing the main road west or east is a challenging task Perhaps my visit caught me on a bad day!!

We stayed for one night. It was lovely, clean, and quiet, myself and my partner will be returning again, and we will be recommending, David and Vals Rose Cottage Inn to our friends and family, it has safe parking onsite and there are lots of places to eat out and visit, Rose Cottage is a little gem and i would recommend a stay here ,the views the quietness is just wonderful, thankyou again David and Val you have such a lovely property, see you again soon x

Great place
The cottage we stayed in was Beacon View and it was lovely. The view from the patio doors was just open fields with horses in then. The cottage was spotless clean and very warm and comfortable. We wiuld definitely stay again.

Stayed at Hikers Rest 2. The Rose cottage is situated in a quiet road in the Alciston village. One can explore a number of villages, pubs and restaurants in the area. The rest was super clean and the bed very comfortable. For a small bungalow extension this was surprisingly very comfy. There is only a small electric radiator as a means of heating.

Amazing find!
Booked a one night stay before going on a ferry from Newhaven to Dieppe. Wanted somewhere close to the port with secure parking for the motorbikes. Rose Cottage scored on both requests. All instructions for check in and out were emailed to us before our arrival. Val and Dave were both there to.meet us when we arrived. Very friendly and accommodating. Lovely clean, well presented individual hut called Hiker's Rest. Well equipped for every possible need. Have booked another night on our return journey from NewHaven ferry before travelling home.

Accommodation very basic. Fine if you are just sleeping there, but no space to relax, have a drink etc. Bathroom clean, no hand towels, but clean white bath towels. Hosts were friendly and helpful.

Fantastic . Really pleased with our weekend away as a family . Beautiful views and fantastic accommodation . The owners were lovely and have created something special . It was great to be away from Brighton to experience a quiet break but nearby to be near the sea.

Greeted by our hosts David and Val who were lovely. They couldn't have been more attentive. We stayed in their Hikers rest room which was well equipped, clean and comfy. Used as a base to visit relatives. Ideal spot and will return again.

Lovely time spent here. Very quiet and peaceful, close to nature. Few horses around and ponny. „Middle Farm” nearby offers huge choice of local fruit, veg, meat, cheese, jams, pastries, pressed juices and a LOT of ciders and perrys. We stayed only for two night over the weekend but definitely would like to come back again. Thank you again David and Val

Perfect getaway
The self contained chalet was perfect for us! A bedroom and a bathroom was all we needed it wasn’t too far away from local shops. The owners couldn’t have been more helpful and the breakfast was great value and delicious and served with a smile thank you for a lovely stay!

The hosts were friendly, warm and offered good advice about where to visit -walks and the nearby amenities. The accommodation was well furnished and inviting -we would definitely like to return. The breakfast was generous , well cooked and the attention to detail impressive. The views from our terrace were great plus the sunset.

A quiet location with a beautiful garden offering views towards the South Downs in a small village, ideal for visiting East Sussex. Close to many places of interest and the possibility to make scenic walks to neighboring villages and the South Downs way. Very friendly and helpful hosts.

Lovely relaxing break
Lovely quiet place, parking right next to my room (The Beacon) Great views. Little private garden great for my dog. Nice pub down road. Bonus was a big heated towel rail after I got soaked during heavy rain on a walk. If you have a dog and prepared to drive 17mins a must is Stanmer park on outskirts of Brighton. Fab dog walk. But so many other places to walk too. And Seven Sisters a must!

Lovely accomodation in idyllic country setting
In 2017 the pub closed down and carried on as accomodation with the current owners taking over late 2020. We stayed in Beacon View which is a ground floor apartment style accommodation set in what used to be a car port/garage bar. The accommodation Beacon View comprises Double Bedroom with an en suite fully tiled spacious bathroom with bath and shower overhead. There is a wardrobe and doors opening onto the deck. The main area has a kitchen with hob, oven, toaster, kettle, microwave and fridge with ice box and plenty of cooking and dinning supplies. There is a small table with 2 chairs, a sofa and a good out single bed for an extra guest. Again there is double doors onto the deck. The deck has a bistro patio set with four chairs, plenty of space around and views over the fields towards the beacon as the name suggests. Really stunning and peaceful. Alciston is a very small village intersected by several footpaths and has just a single narrow road in and out, can be a squeeze if you encounter a tractor....which we did . Bed was lovely and comfortable, there are a few DVD's (TV has built in player), some games and books. We had a chat with the owners when leaving and they seem really nice. There is also WiFi and we had no problems with any of the facilities, plenty of parking too. We would definitely like to come back again.
