Grain Store 1 - 29635
In the heart of rural Cornwall. The perfect place from which to explore Cornwall’s countryside and major tourist attractions. A sandy beach and the South West Coastal path a short walk along the lane.. All on the Ground Floor:
Living/dining room: Freeview TV, DVD Player, Woodburner
Bedroom 1: Kingsize (5ft) Bed Ensuite: Cubicle Shower, Toilet
Bedroom 2: Super Kingsize (6ft) Bed, Super Kingsize Bed Can Be 2 X Single (3ft Beds) On Request. Ensuite: Cubicle Shower, Toilet. Fuel for wood burner available at no extra charge. Electric car charging point (charges apply).. Both properties: Electric central heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi included. Travel cot and highchair available on request. Welcome pack. ¾-acre lawned garden with garden furniture and barbecues (shared with other property on-site). Private parking for 2 cars. No smoking.. These two single-storey barns (refs 29635 and 29636) have been converted from an old grain mill and stores. Cosy and warm in the winter and cool and airy in the summer (we run on solar power when the Cornish sun shines), they provide a well-equipped home. Alongside an array of entertainment options is a sunny south-facing garden, with a hideaway den with day bed. With no light pollution, there’s ample opportunity for star-gazing the dark skies.
Little Polgrain Barns are in the heart of the Roseland Peninsula, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. A walker’s paradise with flower-filled lanes giving way to coastal scenery. A short stroll brings you to the hamlet of Portholland, a cove with a history of smuggling. The pubs at St Ewe and Tregony are dog-friendly, within a few miles’ radius. Unspoilt beaches, ancient fishing harbours, tiny art galleries, seaside cafes and pubs make this a place with something for everyone. The cafe in nearby Portscatho offers feast nights throughout the summer. Kayaking, horse riding, cycling and sailing are all available closeby.
This area of Cornwall is renowned for its sub-tropical gardens. Caerhays Castle has featured on numerous TV and is surrounded by acres of camellias and magnolias. Many of the plants were originally shipped from China in the 19th century. The Lost Gardens of Heligan is a short drive away, where you can spend all day wandering walled gardens, jungle valley and watching the heritage breeds at the South West’s first Rare Breed Farm Park. The Eden Project is nearby, famous biomes nestle in a reclaimed china clay pit. alongside a huge indoor rainforest, full of exotic planting, waterfalls and treetop walkways. It’s an ecological hub, with themed seasonal events and provides a spectacular setting for their regular music festival, the Eden Sessions. Charlestown, a regular location for ’Poldark’, is a few miles away in St Austell, with shipwreck centre and offers trips on its famous tall ships.
Further afield but easily reached by car or train, the North Coast offers great days out for surfing and visiting the Padstow, Watergate Bay and St Ives. Beach ¾ mile. Shop, pub and restaurant 4 miles.

Very comfortable cottage in a beautiful location, and a short walk to the beach. Our check in went smoothly and our contact, Nicky, was very responsive. The cottage is very well equipped, and very comfortable, with great beds and a well stocked kitchen. There was even a bottle of bubbly in the fridge! The area is relatively remote, but you can walk to the beach at Port Holland, which has a little cafe, and follow the coastal path to Caerhays, where there is a larger cafe.
And be prepared for driving along very narrow roads.
All in all, a lovely stay in great accommodation. Highly recommended.

A warm and homely base to escape to after the end of "Lockdown".
A warm and homely base to escape to after the end of "Lockdown". We enjoyed staying in Grain Store 2 a few weeks previously, and returned because we like the quiet rural setting with easy walks to the sea, the clean and comfortable accommodation, and the helpful and friendly owner, Nikki, who couldn't have been more helpful.
We chose Grain Store 1 this time because it is slightly larger and has a log burner, cosy in the winter, but we will be happy to stay again at either 1 or 2, and look forward to our next stay.

An fantastic setting for walks, peace and quiet.
An fantastic setting for walks, peace and quiet. The beach is 10 mins walk, and coastline is breath taking. Lots of walks from the door. Cottage itself was warm, homely and well eqipped. The living room was inviting and the views very restful. First time away in 14 months and couldnt have picked a better place. Garden for the dogs was great.

Little Polgrain is a lovely, quiet holiday home.
Little Polgrain is a lovely, quiet holiday home. It’s has a huge log burner, very comfy lounge and beautiful gardens, with the owner Nikki, living on site to help with any additional needs.
The kitchen is well stocked and there’s a fab coffee machine too. Beds are very comfy with both bedrooms having an en-suite.
The location is near a quiet hamlet by the sea with no shops or pub but a unique charm and beauty that’s just wonderful. The walks around the cove were stunning and the waves had surfers happy over Christmas with a few good days of swell.
The location is quite remote but perfect for exploring the area from if you have a car.
All in all, a wonderful, relaxing Christmas break in a warm and charismatic Cornish cottage.

This is a beautiful, spacious property in the lovely Cornish countryside. All around are rolling hills and farmland, so it’s easy to relax here. The property is comfortable and spacious, with a huge garden. Portholland beach is a 20 minute walk, and the property is in a good location for visiting other attractions such as Heligan, Charlestown and Mevagissey. A really lovely holiday, thank you Nikki.

A beautiful cottage set in a stunning location, the garden area was wonderful to relax in.
A beautiful cottage set in a stunning location, the garden area was wonderful to relax in. The cottage had everything we needed and was very comfortable and spacious. It’s a short walk to the beach which was lovely in the evening and there are plenty of coastal walks locally. At Mawes and Charlestown were not too far and the Lost Gardens if Heligan are worth a visit. There had been a problem with the TV but Nikki could not have been more lovely in getting it sorted quickly. Had a wonderful time and would revisit! The Crown Inn at St Ewe is perfect for Sunday lunch and serves wonderful food and a warm welcome

A lovely gem in the cornwall coutryside! Located in the middle of no where, surrounded by beautiful countryside. The owner was lovely, super helpful and even put out a welcome basket full of lovely edibles. She is very dog friendly. Highly recommended staying here if your looking to switch off and unwind! But the drive to and from is not for the faint hearted as with the coutryside comes small narrow roads with limited visibility. That being said it did not stop us going out and exploring every day no matter the weather!

Wonderful, peaceful and spotlessly clean cottage.
Wonderful, peaceful and spotlessly clean cottage. We had two great weeks in October and did not want to leave. Where the cottage is situated we were able to travel all over Cornwall within the hour. We also enjoyed the country walk to the beach, also the walks on the cliff paths from the beach. The cottage was equipped with everything you would need and was also very warm and cosy. The garden is very big and enclosed so safe for children and dogs. Everything was of a very high standard and we would recommend the cottage to anyone that is looking for a Cornish holiday.

A lovely week in this very well equipped and cosy cottage.
A lovely week in this very well equipped and cosy cottage. Everything we needed for the week and Nicky was always on hand to help. Only downside was the distance to nearest shops- had to go to truro or st Austell for supermarkets but not a problem if planned into your days out. Would highly recommend overall as a peaceful escape in the country.

This is a fabulous cottage - high quality furnishings, very comfortable bed, stylish decor, and really generous provision of a beautiful 'welcome hamper' and of 'sundries' (like loo roll!!!). It is very off-the-beaten track, which we loved, but useful to know this in terms of what to take with you. It is quiet, and a 20-minute walk to a beautiful beach and access from there to the coast-path.

This was my fourth visit to this cottage with my mother. Ideally located for visiting Heligan and Caerhays Castle in the spring. The magnolias were magnificent this year.
Cottage ideally set out for my elderly mother with limited mobility as it’s all on one floor.
The cottage is Warm, comfortable and the welcome pack is so very generous. Nicky was as helpful as ever and it was good to catch up. Unlike last year we were not snowed in!
