Jolly Sailor - A+

Excellent pub, clean cozy room, great view from window seat of Portsmouth. Our meals were excelllent. Will visit again.

Stayed here before and would happily stay again. Reason for staying is, because it’s cheap to stay , in a convenient location, has what you need a bed which is clean and comfortable. Room has a nice view to wake up to .

Jolly Sailor review

I stay in the Jolly Sailor every week for business. The owner and his staff are very hospitable. Rooms are basic but comfortable, staff very friendly and there is free parking after 6.00pm. Situated close to Southsea front where you can take a walk with the fresh sea breeze. It's my home from home.

Just a great place. Liked the put food and drink as well. Stayed on top floor. No noise and very clean and tidy rooms despite building seeming quite old. Definitely surprised for spending not a lot of money.

Lovely friendly staff, property is just dated and needs a lot of TLS. Bedroom smelt of stale smoke. But loved the bay window seating. We had a little picnic there admiring the view.

What i didn't like is that's at the bar is cart payment only my own personal preference is to have a choice witch they didn't give us otherwise the hotel is nice and clean staff is friendly.

Very disappointing

Owners didnt bother to get parking permits, so had to pay almost £14 a day to park car. Not impressed. Most expensive pint in whole of portsmouth £6.80. Way over the top considering run down state of place. Even dearer than central london. Sink had hole in it so water went straight on floor. On the one plus side, bed was comfortable.

To cold for no heating

Room was freezing as the heating wasn’t on they did give us a small electric heater which didn’t make any difference No towels or tea bags We couldn’t turn the tv over or volume down because every button on the remote we pressed just knocked the tv off The parking was not complimentary as stated it was £13 for 24 hours on the upside it was just across the road to the hotel The toilet was just across the hall and the view from our room was lovely
