Expedia need to remove this hotel's 'VIP Access' status. As a gold member I was entitled to a room upgrade if available. Upon check in I was told there was no room upgrade available. Furthermore, I was told the hotel would never offer a free upgrade. Subsequent online checks for availability revealed that room upgrades were in fact available. I know for a fact that the superior room next to ours was vacant for the whole week of our stay. This is the first time a hotel has failed to uphold its obligation under its 'VIP Access' status by refusing a room upgrade by denying there were rooms available, and by stating that they would never offer a free upgrade in direct contradiction to its status. One free bottle of wine per stay was offered instead. So, maybe gold membership status was worth less than a euro to each of us per night of our stay. Expedia gold members beware
