URBAN LOFT Cologne

"Firstly, the staff were great! The location might be described as "edgy" - not Frankfurt station edgy but.. Handy for the Hbf though, not too far from the centre and there are shops doors away. Do be aware the hotel is right next to the railway, I love trains so not an issue for me - in fact this leads to one great feature: actual opening windows! The roof terrace is a nice feature, there's plenty of seating in the foyer too; I used the coffee machine but baulked at paying €19 for a continental breakfast. The room itself had the wow factor but there is a lot of style over practicality. Room card holder across the room from the door, seriously? Light switch for the bathroom hidden behind the door and no shelf in there either (think it was an accessible one, maybe that's why?) Shelves above the wardrobe, great if you're 8 foot tall & no separate switches for the bedside lights. Bed, blackout curtains, noise level, shower all good. Oh, don't mention the automatic tap either.. For a short stay, it's absolutely fine, the staff were so helpful - special mention to the cleaning staff who always said a cheerful hello."

"Good location on the outskirts of town. Was quite a bit of noise with being close to the rail and road so would recommend ear plugs. Hotel was clean, staff were friendly."

"Lovely hotel, location fine, parking easy. Decent bar area. Only criticism is the self check in desk is a bit inefficient. Had two staff who could have done the check in, in seconds, stood there watching us fumble around. Self check in should exist for when staff aren’t around (late arrivals) or away from the mann check in desk to make more “slots available” during peak times. Having 3 computers and 2 staff telling people how to use the computers and not able to check you in on their own computer is just silly. We also had to queue to check out to get parking validated, which seems like something a computer system you had to use to pay for parking could have done during check in… didn’t ruin the stay but several of our party commented on how woefully inefficient the existing process is."
