Staff was very nice but the room was not as displayed in photos. Older room which needed some Much needed TLC. A/C wasn’t working. But overall if your not spending much time in the room it had a great location and was only a walk from everything.

The hotel was disappointing and although the area was handy for Termini and hop on off buses ,the quality of the room was poor. The cleaning lady was very efficient and helpful and the breakfast was adequate. Anush the reception guy was very helpful kind and went above and beyond his duties to assist us during our stay. Although it wasn't a 5 star place it was within our price range and you get what you pay for.

Meh
No lifts with small staircase. Bed was horrible (you can feel the actual springs when you sit/lay on it). Only thing going for it was the accessibility to Roma Termini.

Roman Stay 2017
The only significant advantage of the Aquarium Hotel is its proximity to the main railroad station, about 500 meters from the main entrance to the station. At my arrival, the person at the reception desk was unfriendly and did not provide the appropriate information about the hotel. For example, he did not tell me that the stairs and entrance door he used to take me to my room were not to be used during my stay. Maybe he did not speak enough Italian to express himself. The other members of the staff I encountered were courteous and helpful. I view this hotel, as others in the vicinity of Stazione Termini, as a convenient stay when in transit in Rome and in need of getting to trains and buses easily. Nothing else. Contrary to the local custom, breakfast is not included. My Expedia notes indicated a fee of Euro 22 for "continental" breakfast.

Nice hotel in the Rome City Centre
It staff are good and interactive. hotel location is very convenient in the hear of the city centre and so most of the sites can be reached walking. Main train station is walking distance from where trains and tubes can be taken to the sites, airport and to travel further afield across Europe. in addition is good value for money

Terrible Hotel, 100% Disappointment
BEWARE!! A total disappointment! The pictures on the web are totally different than the actual place, The entrance is dirty, creepy, dangerous and confusing. There are homeless by the door. The lobby is on the second floor and the elevator wasn't working. The rooms are really ugly and smell bad. The bathroom is really terrible, small and dirty as well. The breakfast isn't a buffet, there's only a coffee machine, bread and yogurt. The room rate should be as a cheap hostel and not as a hotel. There's NOT a free Wifi. This hotel is a total rip off. I would never go back to that place and I would not recommend it to anyone.

Unsafe Hotel- THEFT!
Towards the end of our stay at the hotel, 390 euros were stolen from our room. The euros were in an envelope and not in plain view. We were never informed that there was a safe or anywhere to keep our possessions. We thought it would be safe to keep money stashed in the hotel due to the amount of pickpocketers on the streets of Rome. We were out for only a couple of hours, in that time the hotel cleaners cleaned our room. One cleaned the bathroom while the other cleaned the rest of the room. Once we returned and noticed the money was missing we informed the concierge who essentially said there was nothing that could be done. He told us the boss would be at the hotel the next morning around 8. The next morning at 8:00 we went to the lobby and waited for the boss. She did not show up. We were then told she should be there between 10:30-11:00. Again, she did not show up. We were then told to be back at the hotel by 5:00 pm because that is when the boss would be there. We made sure to return at 5:00 and yet again she did not show. The boss did not think it was important enough to come, gave us the run around of when she would be there, and did not show up to avoid having to compensate us in any way. The situation was handled unprofessionally and there was no justice or resolution.

Do not go there !
Room pictures on website are totally misleading. We had very small dingy room with one tiny window that had closed shutters on which we couldn't get to because of air con machine in way. Bathroom filthy, with cracked tiles on floor and mould around window. Had to put light on in room even during day. Heartbreak hotel. Couldn't even work out how to get into hotel as massive door locked and we thought it had closed down. Only shown how to get in by lady also staying there who happened to turn up shortly after we had got there. Another time we were left in scorching heat ringing bell for 10 mins before anyone opened door. Breakfast buffet dull uninspiring. Coffee machine like you would see in motor waiting room. Looked like dingy transport café. nobody around to clear tables or greet you. No lounge bar, at least bar in reception as in plank of wood on wall, but no drinks, or anyone serving ! Bet we would have had better stay in a prison cell. So much for anniversary treat.

The room itself was fine. The problems that plague it are: 1. The sporadic internet connection, it rarely worked at night from about 10pm - 6am. To me, any hotel that doesn't have a steady wifi for it's customers, is a no no, especially in this day and age. Many of us visiting from over seas need the internet to contact families back home and to make additional travel arrangements, this prevented us from doing so. 2. The downstairs entrance to the hotel smells like garbage because the trash bins are kept there on the ground floor for some odd reason instead of out of site and out of smell 3. Poor variety for breakfast - cake, bread, room temperature yogurt, cereal, juice. No meats, cheeses or fruits n which many others offer.

Really close to the central train station but the area isn't the greatest. Room was basic but clean, shower was extra tiny, wifi was spotty, breakfast was minimal, but staff was nice and everything else was fine.

The staff is very friendly, but the hotel is very noisy and old. The bathroom is awful and disgusting. There's no wifi signal into the bedrooms.

Nightmare
We stayed there for 5 nights and the room never been cleaned. The smell of sewage in the room was horrific. No hot water in the shower if many people were taking a bath. No enough food for breakfast and when we asked for any more food they said it finished despite the fact we were there at 9:30 and the breakfast was served till 10:30. Overall very disappointed.

This was a good value for Rome. The staff was helpful and the breakfast was great. The rooms are old but clean and the bathroom is tiny but it does the job. Only complaint is by the end of the 2nd day, there was a bad smell in the room - I think it was coming from the plumbing.

Excellent location, very near to the Roma termini station, a lot of restaurants along the area, at the back of the hotel is the airport shuttle bus and staff are very friendly... Will surely recommend to others..

Good location for Termini, but I felt uncomfortable walking in the neighbourhood without my partner. Staff friendly and helpful. Room in need of modernisation- our shower flooded bathroom floor whenever we used because shower screen broken. Wifi free but not great signal so unable to use unless sat right behind door in the room.

Hotel location excellent and staff helpful
The hotel aqua is ideal situated for the train terminal and central Rome.. The entrance was a bit difficult to find at first as its on the first floor but there is a lift ./ we were on the 5th floor with a balcony and had a fantastic view over the park opposite. The staff were friendly and helpful.co tinental breakfast was a good start to a busy day sightseeing. There are plenty of restaurants close by for evening g meals.

Very nice staff but that's about all I can say about it . Really shabby foyer . Room was not prepared . No covers on heavily stained pillows . Asked 5 times to replace towels wich never happened 5 days with 1 towel. The hotel clearly has issues with laundry .

Clean and neat. Close to train terminal.
A little hard to find the entrance. Large old wooden front doors. We arrived during a local power outage so that made checking in tricky. The staff was very apologetic even though it was not at all their fault. Helped us settle into our room. Price was reasonable, room was clean and comfortable and very close to the train terminal.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for three nights. The hotel is okay. We understood the building is old so we didn't have high expectations. The room was big, lots of space. We had problem with hot water for showers. sometimes it took a very long time to work and other times no water came out at all. But if you wait long enough it works. The staff were very nice and helpful. Breakfast was okay. Cereal, toast, sweets, egg. It was plain but filled us up. The hotel is in a good area. Lots of food, affordable restaurant and clothes shops. It was a good stay.

Cheap and close to all. Don't expect more then you paid for it. There is no elevator inside of the hotel so you have to carry your luggage to the 2d floor of the hotel. And there is trouble with served water ducts and the bad smells come out from pipes...

Having read previous reviews I was prepared for the less than appealing initial impressions from the street. Overall this hotel delivered what it promised, very clean, basic accommodation which matched the budget,with attentive friendly staff. Our four bedroom room was ideal for our family group.

First room smelled of chemicals and gave us a headache right away. We asked for another room, and the unpleasant front desk attendant gave us another room.......... on the fifth floor. The elevator had a sign on it saying "NO LUGGAGE" and there was a good reason why. The elevator was probably older than Rome itself. After lugging everything up to the room, we were exhausted and it was time for a nice hot shower. Only problem was there was no hot water. We go down to tell the front desk attendant, and he very rudely told us that it takes time for the hot water to reach the fifth floor. So we let the water run for about ten minutes, and suddenly the water stopped altogether. I risked my life once again riding down to the front desk to tell the grouch. The only reply he gave us is that if we don't like the room, then we can go find another place to stay at. Sure, 8pm in a foreign country, sounds like a good plan. Our hot shower had to wait another day, because the next morning we took the grouch's advice. We got a room elsewhere and it was the best decision of our trip.

Very old and dirty facility
The room is too small and the staff didn't clean it everyday. There are dirty marks on the wall. The shower door is broken and water comes out and flood the bathroom floor. Their facility had a problem so we showered with cold water for two days. Breakfast is very bad for me personally because they never serve fresh milk, it's always milk that has gone bad. positive: quiet and close to the train station.

Excellent staff, good location.
The staff were super helpful and friendly (as well as spoke very good English ) they were also helpful when I needed help with the Italian chauffeur service I had back to the airport who were late and the lady receptionist took all the calls for me! The place is very convenient when you get your bearings together, breakfast is standard but yummy, especially if you have a sweet tooth! The room was ok but you're not in there much anyways! I would stay there again :)
