The common areas of this property (garden and lounge area) are very beautiful. It is close to the railway station and quiet.

It’s good hotel but I would not say 4 Star. Rooms are clean but bit far from city center. If somebody like quiet location then this is recommended.

Ateneo very good
the hotel itself initially looked bad and run down due to the area, however inside was brilliant, nice decor, quality work. Location being near to the train station is helpful if coming from airport. a lot of places you can walk to. food for breakfast was nice, as helped set myself and friends up for the day. room we had overlooked courtyard were quiet, staff were very accomodating if we had a query such as ringing a taxi etc (however italian drivers have no concept of indicators, speed restrictions or lane discipline), and majority took advantage of being tourists. overall very happy with the hotel, and rome in general, and will return i do disagree however with the additional citi tax (which the hotel has no control over), as it added 108 euro to our overall bill (18 euro a day for the 3 rooms)

No air conditioning in room
We had a spacious and clean room for our family of four, but we were unable to have a goodnight's sleep for two out of three nights as the air conditioning is not used at this time of year (end of Oct - with temperatures in mid 20 degrees Celsius) - we were informed of this when we asked why our air conditioning was not working, despite website advertising air conditioning available in all rooms. Unfortunately the air con fan continued to blast out HOT air despite being switched off. It took three contacts with staff to get this switched off. Staff advised us if it was too warm to leave door into central courtyard open. We obviously couldn't do this all night with two children in the room. The decor could do with an update, there is mould on the bathroom walls and the breakfast could be a better presented (bacon and eggs left on paper in warmer, which was torn and ended up in food). On the one occasion we asked for help with booking a sightseeing tour we were advised to go online and do it ourselves. The room served a purpose but we would never use this hotel again.

Decent hotel barely a 4 star
Pros: the breakfast is great because it's buffet style and they have it on their garden rooftop which is really nice. 10-15 minute walk to the main Roma train station. Room is average. Cons: wifi in the room only worked by the door. There was no coffee or hot water in the room or lobby. They were not very informative or friendly at check in. The location is a bit far from the major attractions but the bus stop is down the street. It's about a 20-30 minute ride to the colosseum/Roman ruins and about 45 to the Vatican. There is not much to eat or do in the area. alot of graffiti on the neighborhood buildings. We didn't explore the area at night because of that.

Good quality for a great price
Hotel was clean, comfortable and room was quite spacious for Rome. Bathroom was also great! Good options for breakfast and very friendly staff. Only somewhat negative aspect was location (can't walk through the termini so have to walk around it each time) and hotel is in kind of a sketchy area, although no one ever bothered us. Some great late night restaurant options close by as well!

Quiet neighborhood near the Termini Staiton
There are tons of hotel selection near the Termini, I am glad I choose the Ateneo Garden. It is about 10-15 walk from the Termini within a quiet neighborhood. Since the direction still takes some turns, be sure to google map the location while you can. The free wifi at the Termini is totally a disaster. The staff is okay, but not able to provide tickets for any kind of tour. I had room #223, which is absolutely spacious. There is also a window in the bathroom benefits the air circulation. As for the free breakfast, they do not have too much variety but serves the purpose. Oh btw, there is 6 euro city tax for each night and you can only pay in cash at check out!

Close to the Rome Termini
This is a quiet and pleasant hotel, less than 10 mins walk from the Rome Termini. There are not a lot of tourist things in the area (nice Tuscan restaurant across the street; coffee places within a block). Close to the National Research Council of Italy (5 min walk). Good for transit days for sure.

Convenient and clean
Very nice little hotel. Staff helpful and polite. Hotel is close..ish to the train station and closer to attractions than it appears. Management should take advantage of this by showing guests the way to reach places by taxi or walking etc.

Séjour agréable dans le quartier de l'université
Personnel à l'accueil et au petit déjeuner très agréable. Localisation très pratique pour l'université Sapienza, proche (5-10 minutes à pieds) de la gare ferroviaire qui permet de prendre le métro pour accéder très rapidement aux monuments du centre historique. Il y a également un bus qui fait le trajet avec un arrêt quasiment en face de l'hôtel. Bon petit déjeuner avec du vrai café. Chambre à la déco vieillotte mais propre.

Fin beliggenhet, kort vei til togforbinnelse.Rolig strøk. Stusselig frokost, kunne vært noe mer variasjon på ett 4 stjernes hotell. Vennlige ansatte, men noe forskjell på imøtekommelsen av de som jobbet der. Damen vi møtte på flere ganger var veldig hyggelig og hjelpsom. Pluss for nye rene håndklær hver dag, minus for tett sluk som gjorde at vi sto med vann til anklene i badekaret. Møkkete og ekkel madrass med flekker og merker. Akkurat dette trekker veldig ned for god komfort og det å trives på rommet. Her kunne de lett dekket til med et rent laken, så hadde det sett mye rensligere ut med en gang. Alt i alt ett greit hotell. Kunne fint bodd der igjen.

Very nice staff, they manged to change the room for us. Our first room was in a bit neglected condition, as some other parts of the hotel. The shutters could not be fixed, some of the furniture was a little bit damaged, the room was rather noisy and there was a strong smell of cleaning supplies when we arrived. The second room (310) was much nicer, apart from the bathroom being very small. Really poor for a 4-star-hotel was the quality of the breakfast. There are so many great bakeries in San Lorenzo but the cornetti at the buffet as well as all the other bread and toast was packaged. Also the cheese (only one type without any taste), the fruit juices were full of sugar and so on. The only positive thing with the breakfast were the nice lady who prepared the coffee and the bright room. A last word to the surrounding: San Lorenzo once was a very nice popular quarter but now the amount auf rubbish on the streets is disgusting as well as the ugly scribblings on the walls. We cannot not recommend anybody to spend their holidays in this dirty area.
