Worst experience ever
We notified our host that we would be arriving in Rome via train at 9:45pm days before our arrival date. While we’re waiting for a taxi to get to the location he notifies us that checkin closes at 10pm (note this site doesn’t have any remote access capabilities) and to hurry up, but the location is a 40 minute drive from the train station. After 20 minutes he proceeds to tell us that they’re going home for the night and that we should fend for ourselves for the night - goodbye. He then stopped answering calls or responding to texts and literally ghosted us. We called VRBO Support and while they offered to refund us for the stay we didn’t have a place for the night. We literally found ourselves outside the location in the middle of the night with our luggage searching Google for new accommodations. I do not recommend this host or this location. We had literally the worst experience and wouldn’t wish it on anyone else.

pauline when she booked the cottage on the vrbo page and clearly stated that check-in must be done from 15.00 to 20.00 but she asked to check-in at 21.00 I accepted her request but warned her not to arrive after 22.00 because the structure is not a hotel or a hotel that has a 24-hour concierge service. the staff works from 8 in the morning until 22.00 after they go home because they have a family and a life to live and I can't force anyone to work after working hours perhaps you should be the one to respect the people who work if you make a reservation giving an arrival time you must respect it if you have unforeseen events such as flight or train delays the least you can do is warn the person waiting for you which you didn't do I've always been looking for you to find out where the situation was and at what time would come she never bothered to warn. He was supposed to arrive at 21.00 and instead he arrived at 23.30. if you book a flight or a train or whatever do you think they expect you to arrive two and a half hours late? I think not so next time I advise him first of all to inform the person waiting for him of the evolution of his arrival and then if he fails to arrive on time he cannot force anyone to wait 2 and a half hours after working hours the people who work must be respected and if he has problems he cannot pass them on to others. And I also point out another thing to him in all the conversations we've had via messages he never once said sorry for the delay his arrogance was really annoying given that it was you who was at fault given the delay.
