"If you want an island experience this is the place I loved it no TV's just outside fun the staff was super friendly we ate together and played dominos together. Erika helped me with anything and everything I needed she got me picked up from the airport and dropped off at my first hotel then handled the rides and boat to the island. I decided to pickup a second day and didn't regret it. I ate fresh crab fresh lobster fresh from the water at the cheapest price I've ever seen. Diego was super helpful and offered great service he even set up a trip to see glow in the dark plankton and experience I'll never forget and Steven makes the best mint lemonade I've ever had in my life no joke he let me dj the whole time and was super helpful as well anything I needed they didn't hesitate the breakfast and coffee was great lunch and dinner as well they even brought out a kayak just for me so I could paddle around they have a few dogs that were awesome I was sad to leave they even guarded my hut at night. Bring water, snacks, liquor and smokes or anything else you think you might need because if you wanna leave the island you gotta pay a fee Bring treats for the dogs you won't regret it"

"We were honored to be the first guests after Isla Azul’s reopening under new management. The hotel manager Pedro is exceptionally friendly and customer-focused. He and his team were a highlight of our stay. He coordinated awe-inspiring snorkeling and phytoplankton tours with an experienced local guide. The restaurant chef whipped up delicious local favorites, made to order, and the piña coladas were nice and cold! The hotel was still in the process of renovating during our stay, so I expect that our short list of less-than-perfect’s will be improved in the near future. Overall, the rustic island atmosphere was a welcome respite from the bustle of Cartagena. The accommodations were basic but comfortable (working AC!) and we felt exceptionally looked-after by all the staff. As an added bonus, for others like us who are used to having to shake our shoes every morning in the tropics, there seem to be virtually NO dangerous plants/animals on the island – no poisonous snakes, no sharks, no crocodiles – just hermit crabs and a few mosquitos (and even those weren’t that bad). Looking forward to seeing this hotel blossom and thrive!"

"Samuel was the best service staff we have ever had. He made an effort to learn English words with us while also teaching us Spanish. He definitely made the trip even better. As for the island, it was incredible. The boat ride there and back was 1000x better than a day trip boat I took a day prior with another company. It’s breezy at night on the island which helps keeps the mosquitos away. Would definitely recommend staying at least 2 nights to be able to fully enjoy the island :)"

"It is a great place to relax and unwind. It is a small island; the hotel has only eight guest rooms and welcomes day trippers between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. After 3:00 p.m., the island is left entirely to the overnight guests. During my stay, there were only four guests, which I loved. The bed was very comfortable, the room was spotless, and the air conditioning worked well; the views, food, and cocktails were all excellent, and I give the service a 10 overall. The only thing I would recommend improving is communication regarding transportation. We had a minor issue, but they handled it professionally. I also think the island is best suited for couples; I was traveling with a friend and thought it would be easy to switch to a room with two beds, but I was told that all the rooms had only one bed, though I didn't mind sharing the bed with my friend. I recommend Pao"
