Rye is a cobbled town with a variety of shops, antique emporiums, galleries, and tea rooms, restaurants, pubs, and historic inns. There's a Thursday general market and a Wednesday farmers' market. In the summer of 2014, BBC crews filmed the TV series Mapp and Lucia in the town for nine weeks. The DVD is now available. All coastal scenes were filmed in Camber Sands, Hastings, and Tenterden Town station. Henry VIII's Camber Castle is accessible by footpath across the marshes. Attractions include steam train rides, vineyards, stately homes, castles, gardens, and beaches, including Camber Sands. Big skies, winding roads, and picturesque villages with ancient inns and tea shops delight artists and photographers. A relaxing vacation spot.
