7.8/10 Good! (629 reviews)
We stayed for one night, and unfortunately, the hotel was in poor condition. There was a strange smell in our room, and I discovered spots of what appeared to be mould inside a drawer. The corridors smelled of cannabis and damp, with hotel trolleys and linen left out throughout our stay.
The communal areas were cluttered and needed a thorough clean, while much of the furniture was tired and in need of replacement. Although some carpets and beds have been updated, the overall impression was one of neglect.
I’ve been visiting Wigan on and off for around 20 years and remember this hotel from its days as the Mercure. It’s disappointing to see how much it has deteriorated, especially as the building has so much potential.
I appreciate that it was a budget hotel, but basic cleanliness and maintenance should still be a priority. Sadly, I wouldn’t stay here again or recommend it in its current condition. It is not a three star hotel.

"I imagine it is a great place to stay if you are part of a wedding party but not brilliant if you are not. It was very loud into the night and breakfast was chaotic with so many people. The 'hot' breakfast was cold and not very tasty. The staff were adequate but not especially friendly. Great pool ..."
