"genuinely this place is awful do not stay here. stay at bali an thats nearby and cheaper. bali an is wayyy cleaner, has great amenities, space, and most of all feels safer. this place was like a dungeon. i chose this place due to its proximity to shinjuku station but its not worth it. heed my warning. stay at the bali an hotel thats nearby. its like $80/night there vs this place being $100/ a night there was a cockroach in our room, the door was not properly fitted in the doorframe and there...

"The Toe Library is a gem. Yoshi was such a wonderful host that my 9-year-old daughter is still talking about our time there. Would recommend for anyone seeking personal Japanese hospitality at its finest and amenities you never knew you needed ... colored pencils, music player, Mt. "Definitely a great place to stay if you are visiting Kawagoe with its historic 'Edo Town', as the nearest station (Matoba) is just two stops away. The very kind owner/host offers a comfortable place to stay with excellent hospitality and flexibility for not just solo travellers but couples and even small groups. Japanese-style Room, Non Smoking (Maximum 7 People)

"The first thing you should know is that this is not a hotel. It's an apartment with two flats, one on the second floor and one on the third floor, above a storefront about half way between the Ueno and Asakusa stations. That said, it's not bad as a rental apartment, and was a good fill-in for us when our Air BnB booking was cancelled on short notice. All of the communication with the owner was via the Expedia site - we never met anyone in person, but got check-in instructions via messages...

"The owners are very attentive, and present the Ryokan as your being a guest in their home. The traditional tatami is clean and comfortable. Lots of art and Japanese mementos all over, make you feel that you are in aJapanese home. Hot baths too!"

"Great apartment with separate bedroom and much bigger than usual Japanese hotels. Beds comfortable, clean bed linen and towels, lots of hot water and pristine bathroom. Minimal kitchen facilities but good for breakfasts and those wanting to eat out. Landlord accessible and a great communicator. Exceptional value for money. "

"Amazing hotel overall. The hotel room was large enough for 3 people to stay in there comfortably. Amenities were very clean and I am very particular about restrooms. There is a great view of the city as well! This really exceeded expectations! Great location to get around, but it is Shinjuku so just be aware there are lots of late night shenanigans with crowds. However, you don't hear it from the hotel."
