Shipwrights Cottage on the banks of the Salcombe Estuary
The location is in the heart of Salcombe town with its bustle of shops, restaurants, cafes and vibrant atmosphere. The beaches can be viewed opposite from the cottage windows. The Harbour is of great interest teaming with boats; sailing races can be seen from the cottage which is situated on the start line of the Yacht Club. Walking on the cliff tops and the coastal path is delightful, especially along estuaries such as Ernemouth at low tide. There are more lovely beaches, namely, Bigbury, Bantham, Milton beach, Soar Mill and Thurleston, to explore nearby. Dartmouth too is not far away to visit. Golf courses are excellent in the area. The accommodation consists of two double bedrooms, with en-suite facilities, a lounge and a galley kitchen. The scene from the cottage windows changes every minute and is a delight to spend time just watching the world go by. There is no parking at the cottage but spaces can be found in the roads around or there is a car park about eight minutes away. A map is provided. There is a newly opened Spa at the Salcombe Harbour Hotel just along the road.

Excellent 3 level property, well equipped with everything one would need for a holiday, good views looking over the estuary.
It would have benefitted from having 2 keys, to allow guests to do different activities

We visit Salcombe every year but sadly my husband died in a January so this was our first visit on a smaller scale. My daughter and myself arrived at the holiday home after a long drive - it is perfectly placed and really cosy with views over the estuary. It was just the perfect break we needed. The weather was very mixed, sunny, windy and wild and raining - we loved it all and so nice to know we had a lovely warm home to go back to, I don’t want to say too many nice things as I won’t be able to book it again due to it being fully booked! Just to say, we definitely hope to visit again and ... thank you for a lovely stay 😊

After a year of Covid, we found the picture postcard beauty of Salcombe the tonic we needed. After a long journey, we arrived at shipwrights full of optimism but some uncertainty. The cottage was brilliant, as perfect as the resort, and just what we expected and more. Family came to stay with us and all were blown away. The cottage has all the amenities of the 21st century, while retaining lots of the rustic charms you expect of a period property. We are already thinking of returning to Salcombe and would happily book Shipwrights again. RJ

Lovely small cottage, centrally positioned in Salcombe and very good for travelling around South Devon. Superb views from all around and from the cottage.
Problem was cleanliness, the whole of the cottage needed a very good clean, probably take 2/3 days to thoroughly clean it. Washer did not work for 5 days and insufficient towels.

Downstairs bedroom musky damp smell.Kitchen requires deep clean.
Position of cottage perfect, parking car bit of a nightmare, only allowed 2hours parking on road outside.Leaving car overnight in Devon road behind the cottage for free parking requires a hike to leave and collect car.

Shipwrights cottage is in a fab little spot with the most beautiful views of the estuary and a stones throw from the centre of town. However, due to its location, it can be a little noisy at night with cars driving past and people coming home late at night from the pub, plus if you've got young kids the downstairs bedroom it's not ideal as they have the front door in their bedroom. There was no wifi as Broadband was not working. An electrician was contacted by the owner and the problem was because the property needed to update their connection. However, although the owner was told the problem had been fixed, we never got wifi to work. The washing machine broke during a wash, again the owner said she would send someone in, but it was two days before we left and was not sorted. The bed linen downstairs had not been cleaned properly. There was a strong smell of damp in the downstairs bedroom too. The owner was usually accessible by phone and accommodating where possible, but sadly the above mentioned issues did let the property down.

Beautifully appointed. Views of the river. Near to shops & all amenities. Hotel nearby where at a price you can use their spa, however, I am told there is another swimming pool fairly close by. The owners are extremely helpful. I would not hesitate to book this delightful cottage again.

We had a wonderful week in Salcome and Shipwright's Cottage was very comfortable for my family. Our favourite place was sitting by the open windows in the morning. Watching the women rowers, boats and goings on of the water and all the dogs playing along the beach opposite. Weather was wonderful and walks to North and South Sands having a good breakfast at the Winking Prawn as well as the boat ride back which is a must. Went Crabbing in Dartmouth. We ate lots of gorgeous honeycombe ice cream and the kids loved getting crepes in the evening and we must not forget the sweetshop!
Such a lovely week! Thank you!

Lovely cottage - warm, lots of hot water, good wi-fi. Comfortable bed. Fine for two adults.
Fantastic walks on the headlands above Hope Cove, Overbecks and Greenways (both) NT worth visiting. Totnes good for independent shops.
The Bake House a great local asset as is the Victoria Inn.
Unfortunately, the oven had not been cleaned prior to our arrival and despite reporting this no attempt was made to rectify this omission during our four day stay. We are also used to finding local maps or guide books for the use of guests.

My partner and I had a brilliant week at Shipwrights Cottage, which is both charming and perfectly located minutes from the centre of Salcombe, and with fabulous views across the estuary. Beds were very comfortable, and we found all that we needed in this 'home from home'. The owner is lovely and very helpful. Would definitely recommend!

We are drawn to Shipwrights Cottage at Salcombe every year for our holiday because there is something for all the family; the beaches are so close which the children adore, the cliff walking, the shops, the restaurants, the sailing.
The cottage is so convenient and very cosy with lovely views of the estuary

What an idyllic spot. Salcombe is a delight and staying at Shipwrights complimented this beautifully. It was a perfect cottage for our requirements, family of 4, and just as described.
We particularly loved the fact that it is right in the heart of Salcombe, yet peaceful with picturesque views to keep us entertained. The children adore all that Salcombe has to offer - the beach, the numerous water activities, crabbing, the park and jumping off the harbour as well as Cranch's sweet shop, the ice-cream parlour and Captain Flints for a treat! They also enjoy going to nearby Bigbury for surfing.
I would certainly recommend this for a holiday and a big thank you to Anne for her wonderful customer service and making us feel so welcome.
We can't wait to re-visit and have already booked!
