"The whole hotel was very good. We stayed here last year and chose to return. The pool area and slides are excellent as are the animation team. We were half board, good selection at meal times- some excellent food, some only ok but we always left feeling full and satisfied. We had a late flight home, the girls at reception today (sat 8th) could not have been more helpful to us, they were so polite and courteous and had no problem allowing us up and back a few times to get stuff out of the cases in the store and also when we needed to have showers prior to leaving. The rooms are very clean and well maintained and thankfully have air con. No issues with this hotel- all good and we will definitely be back!"

"Fabulous hotel nearer to the old town . Good points … Air conditioning in the room Cleanliness standards 10/10 Rooftop swimming pool Points to be aware of … Wi-Fi abit hit and miss The spa prices are extortionate! 55 euros for 60 mins ! If they been longer or cheaper I would have tried it . The hot breakfast selection was not good."

Hotel Best San Francisco

Hotel Best San Francisco

8/10 Good
"It would have been perfect if staff at the reception were trying harder to look friendly and helpful. Any questions about transport to the airport, theme park, attractions in the area..etc - the answer was " we don't provide this information". Also accepting deposit only in cash with cashmachine in hotel charging you a huge rate for withdrawing cash looks like more like scam rather than 4* hotel service. Everything else was perfect ."

"What a great little place. 2 bedroom spacious appartment with a good sized balcony. A well equiped kitchen with washing machine which was a bonus because mine had broke the day before my holiday. Staff really helpful and nice. Nice pool with plenty of beds and not too busy. A very safe and secure building. Nice restaurants a short walk away. 20 mins walk to beach. Would definitely return. I have no complaints at all."

A Budget Guide to Salou

Salou is a popular beachside holiday location for families and couples. Famed for its beautiful beaches, a wide selection of restaurants and bars, as well as activities to entertain the kids, Salou is an ideal holiday destination. Follow our Salou Budget tips for a cheap Salou holiday.

Cheap Accommodation in Salou

Not only can you bag some fantastic flight deals to Salou, there are many cheap Salou hotel deals to be had. Cheap hotels in Salou can be found throughout the city centre and in the districts of Capellans and Cap De Salou. Many budget hotels in Salou are modern and have a pool.

Things to See & Do on a Shoestring in Salou

There are many free activities for Salou holidaymakers. which is great news if you are holidaying on a budget with or without the kids. Salou Promenade is one of the most beautiful landmarks in the city. Here you can find cafes, restaurants and bars - perfect for an evening meal and leisurely stroll. Continue down the promenade to Font Luminosa where you will find a picturesque fountain which runs daily water shows with lighting and music. Kids will enjoy these fountain shows and child play areas nearby.

A day at the Salou seaside costs little to nothing and the great news is that there are lots of great beaches to choose from. Llevant Beach is the main and most popular beach where you can find water sports such as banana boats, pedal boats, windsurfing and boat trips. Ask about group discount as you can get reduced rates for groups. For a cheaper day at the beach also check out Platja Llarge, Platja de Ponent and Platja dels Capellans.

Art lovers will enjoy a trip to Torre Vella de Salou, originally built in the 18th century as a tower to protect the city and warn against pirate attacks and looting. Now the centre is dedicated to art, frequently exhibiting paintings as well as housing a contemporary enamel museum, with enamels from right across the globe. Entrance to the tower is free and access can be gained between April and October.

Salou holidaymakers will have heard of Port Aventura Resort which includes a theme park, aquatic park and four hotels. Kids will love this playground for the day with rollercoasters, water rides and simulators. Booking online is advisable to save long queues at the park when you arrive. If you are planning on visiting Ferrari World, you might be interested in buying a two-day two-park pass - saving you money on entrance fees. To save even further, consider an evening pass which is half the price of a day pass. This gives you access between 9 pm-midnight. As with all day trips, make sure you have a nutritious meal at your accommodation before you go. Bring snacks and water to keep you hydrated and avoid having to pay tourist prices at cafes and vendors.

Cheap Places to Eat & Drink in Salou

On the occasion that you can eat out and want to treat yourself, you won’t be short of restaurants and cafes to choose from in Salou. Take your time strolling along the promenade for the best value meals and ones that won’t break the budget. Most typical Spanish restaurants serve the traditional Spanish dish of Paella which serves at least two people, depending on portion size. In Salou, you can find cheaper fast food options which offer take-away so you can eat on the beach watching the sunset. Savvy shoppers will spot that lunchtime ingredients in supermarkets amount to much less than sandwiches and salads in the popular cafes. If you can, buy ingredients the whole group will enjoy and let the kids make sandwiches to munch on between swims.

Salou is known for its lively nightlife with many disco bars worth a visit, along with the famous nightclubs located just outside the town. If you are travelling with friends or your other half, check out which bars are running daily special drinks offers or even jugs of Sangria to share.
