    A gravelled driveway leads to the property, with a small ramp taking you onto the generous private decking. This is a wonderful place to make the most of the surroundings, whether sharing breakfast at the outdoor table, firing up the BBQ on a sunny evening or sinking into the bubbling hot tub and listening to the river as it winds through the woodland beyond.

    Large glass doors open directly into the bright, open-plan living space, with all the accommodation conveniently arranged on one level. Unwind on the comfortable sofa or armchair after a day exploring, or enjoy a meal together at the dining table beside the window. The compact kitchenette is well equipped for preparing lighter meals, with a countertop fridge featuring a small freezer compartment for ice, a plug-in single-ring electric hob and an air fryer. The adjoining bedroom is light and welcoming, with a double bed and hanging space, while a contemporary shower room completes the accommodation.

    Woods & Water forms an annexe to the owners’ home next door, and you may even be treated to freshly laid eggs and a few local nibbles on arrival, depending on the time of year.

    Despite its wonderfully secluded feel, you’ll have some of Yorkshire’s most beautiful coastline on your doorstep. Discover the cobbled streets and higgledy-piggledy cottages of Staithes, or follow the Cleveland Way for spectacular clifftop walks. Beautiful Runswick Bay, Sandsend, Saltburn and Robin Hood’s Bay are all within easy reach.

    Around 25 minutes away, Whitby offers its atmospheric Abbey, famous 199 Steps, bustling harbour, independent shops, restaurants and traditional fish and chips. Time your visit right and you could experience one of the area’s many events, from the Staithes Festival of Arts and Heritage to Whitby Goth Weekend, Folk Week, Musicport and the much-loved Whitby Regatta.

    Head inland and the North York Moors National Park provides endless opportunities for walking, cycling and exploring, with heather-covered moorland, wooded valleys and pretty villages waiting to be discovered.
