OH MY GOODNESS! EXCELLENT! EXCELLENT! SPECTACULAR! The yard and home are beautiful. I received a very warm welcome from Chemise. She served delicious breakfasts in the dining room every morning and was always available if I needed anything. Outside there are garden areas with chairs and tables. It was wonderful to sit and relax while hearing their water fountains. Amethyst Garden Inn is in a great neighborhood. Easy to walk to restaurants, shops and tourist spots. The very elegant room I stayed in was gorgeous. I felt like a Queen❣️

The Amethyst Garden Inn was absolutely beautiful. We parked and walked almost everywhere in Downtown Savannah. Chemise made some wonderful breakfasts for us and was a tremendous host. Would definitely stay here again.

Charming and Purple
We couldn’t resist this property from the first time we saw the pictures. It was exactly as described and we felt like we were living 200+ years ago but with modern conveniences. It was so charming and we loved our stay. The breakfast and afternoon nibbles were so delicious, hats off to the chef!! Very conveniently located and we would definitely come back!

This house is a purple beauty. The manager Chemise went to a lot of effort to make things special for us. She explained her connection to the house and gave us the history, prepared a wonderful breakfast every morning and helped us get oriented with things to do in Savannah. The property is lovely and quiet - the owner was on site doing maintenance while we were there; but everything was in perfect order in our room. The decor is comfortable yet elegant. We enjoyed the character in the house. The property is secured with locked gates, and the area is safe. For us it was convenient to park our car and walk all weekend - we never needed to drive until our trip over to Tybee Island.

Over priced for the accommodations.
The lady running the inn was very friendly and helpful, however for the price I expected a little more. The sink was not in the bathroom. No thermostat to control heat or cold. It looks as if a lot of shortcuts were done, like black tape on a light switch, two doorknobs but only one worked. My compliments to the photographer that took pictures of the rooms, they did a great job.

We had a pleasant experience.The inn has charm and the breakfast is excellent. The space for dining is full of beautiful light. The bed was very comfortable. The place was clean and inviting. There are a lot of steps just to enter the building so this would not be good for anybody with physical issues that might have trouble with stairs. The decor is not as good as it could be, but you can tell they tried to make it nice without spending too much on finer things.

Overall great stay
I loved our stay at Amethyst Garden Inn. The breakfast was delicious each morning and the Inn itself was decorated beautifully. We stayed in a downstairs room, the Begonia room, which provided convenient access to our car and the outdoor seating area. The only downside was that the room was a bit warm and there was no individual air conditioning adjustment, but a fan was provided which made it much better. The location is a good spot - quiet and secluded. We chose to drive down to riverstreet because the walk was around 25 minutes and I was already sunburnt, but you could walk anywhere you wanted from here.
Breakfast first day - Spinach egg bake, cornbread, coconut grits (new to me hence the tiny portion, but very good), Almond cake, and fresh fruit. It is a buffet style breakfast prepared in house, so you serve yourself. Coffee, hot teas, and juices.

Room was in a dirty, musty, dank smelling basement. It smelled awful! Windows and window sills were dirty and dusty. Many windows were bolted shut. All windows had vertical bars covering them like a prison cell. Window coverings didn’t work. They were dirty horizontal blinds from the 60s. The room was not updated and visible repairs had been done with tape and spray-foam. There were many holes (drill holes and otherwise) in the walls and stains on all of the furniture. The “nest” was blotted shut in a plastic case on the wall so you were not able to control the temperature of your room. The bathroom was tiny, ugly and outdated. Everything looked like it was from the 60s – old, drab, uncared for, stained and dirty. No wine glasses or cups were offered. The room was completely empty of all amenities. You could hear constant, loud footsteps of people walking above, as well as people in the adjoining rooms. I am shocked that this bed-and-breakfast gets away with charging as much as it does. It isn’t event close to the river or to most of the restaurants and tourist spots. Also, there is no pool, despite numerous pictures of one online. We didn’t stay. Despite booking to stay for 5 nights. We left immediately and booked somewhere else.

Accurate and up-to-date information, including room photos, amenities, as well as the address of the hotel, is available on the hotel website for guests to review before making reservations. The hotel location is marked on the maps. This guest chooses to reserve at our hotel with the full knowledge of detailed information, photos, and location on the map. This guest decided for an early departure at her option for personal reasons or a change of plan. Our rooms are fully serviced, with fresh linens and in-room amenities. Additional amenities such as wine glasses, complimentary coffee and tea, and delicious homemade treats are available 24 hours in the dining room and lobby for our guests' convenience and enjoyment. There is no basement at this property. Some rooms and suites are at garden level with access to the beautiful patio with garden and fountain. The blinds have recently been replaced with a new Cordless model and are fully functional. Amethyst Garden Inn is a victorian style home built in the year 1885. Every year over a thousand guests have enjoyed staying at this Victorian Private Inn. Fresh and delicious home-cooked breakfast is part of the Southern hospitality experience at Amethyst Garden Inn. Please read other five stars reviews from many of our past guests.

This historic inn is a little rough around the edges to be special. It's good location and appearance are almost enough to recommend it, but the worn pillows and random room interior and missing bulbs and spiders make it just a "maybe"

Location was good and peaceful. Chemise is a gem! She managed our stay, events, and dining making excellent choices for us. Specifically a restaurant cancelled our reservation, and she located another one for us which was fabulous; it was our anniversary, great save Chemise! Rooms were clean and spacious. Enjoyed our stay. Experienced all the charm of an older Victorian home with antique decor and creaky floors. Beautiful real orchids through the main floor and nice breakfasts made by Chemise. Rooms are well spaced out I didn’t hear anyone else when in my room. Bed very comfortable.

We loved the location of the Amethyst Garden Inn. We were walking distance to everything and very nearby Forsythe Park. The Inn is nestled in the neighborhood so it was quiet and beautiful. Don't miss out on the southern style breakfast! It was the best start to our day.

Worst b and b ever. Starting with email I received the morning of our arrival saying there will be no breakfast. 0 host the entire stay, but a real live cat had the run of the house. Dirty kitty litter in guest bath. Gross. The biggest disappointment is with Expedia. We called multiple times during and after our stay. The couple with us is allergic to cats. We told them we booked another hotel through expedia. Weeks later and hours wasted on the phone they offered a $25 credit. We spent $600/night on the 2 rooms!!! Will not book through expedia again. Will tell everybody we know the same. And, not to stay at Amethyst. Such a shame. Pretty historical house. Guessing owner is bankrupt and doesn't care? He has not answered phone for me or expedia this entire time.

This guest did not read the details of her reservations at the time she booked with Expedia. On the day of check-in this guest found that there are no breakfast included in her reservation. We explained to her that, as was indicated on our Expedia page, breakfast had been suspended since March 2020 due to Covid-19. The guest was not charged for breakfast, as it was not being offered at the time of their visit. The guest began threatening with bad reviews as soon as she learned of her mistake in booking a room without breakfast. She requested a refund, which was an issue that should be addressed with Expedia. The elderly house cat was a temporary visitor who cannot climb stairs, or enter in any of the guest rooms. These guests, like many others, seemed to enjoy petting the cat. All guest rooms and suites have private bathrooms. Guests are requested to use their own bathroom. This guest entered the owner’s private office area, which was labeled as private. This guest’s claims are erroneous and their disappointment is the result of their own negligence for not reading the reservation details about breakfast service not available during their stay. We regularly host many guests who book through Expedia and other travel hosting websites. We are one of the top rated 5-star Inns in Savannah. Due to the pandemic and for the safety of our guests we had temporarily limited the occupancy and suspended breakfast service. We are pleased to resume full service operations including all homemade breakfast service starting April 16, 2021.

We were originally supposed to stay in the Azalea room. Upon arriving, we were absolutely shocked at the condition of the room and walking path to get to the room. First, it's in the basement (exterior access only) - completely isolated from the main part of the house. Second, the room itself was awful - the bedpost was falling a part (like, catch it in your hands falling a part), the bedspread was filthy with brown spots on it and the matching pillows. Finally, the renovation looked like a DIY project gone wrong. My husband refused to unpack and immediately started searching for new accommodations. I called the Inn manager Chemise to let her know about the state of the accommodations. Initially, she offered to move us to a new room - but that there would be a higher price. After letting her know that the state of the room we had was well below expectations and not as pictured at $325/night - she finally agreed just to move us to a different room without additional charges. The new room, the Dahlia suite was MUCH better - but it was still lacking in amenities. It definitely had the historic charm down, but it was missing basic staples like: TV, iron, convenient outlets to charge your electronic devices while you're in the bed, privacy in the bathroom, etc. All in all, we would not stay at the Amethyst Garden Inn. The place needs too much work and there are much nicer places that are cheaper. Pretty disappointed.

We take your feedback seriously and use the information to improve our accommodation and services. Amethyst Garden is a 3 level home. Level one is at street level “garden level”. Amethyst Garden does not have basement. Azalea room is located on garden level as it is described on website. To maintain the tranquil ambiance at Amethyst Garden, guest rooms are free of telephones or televisions. Free wi-fi is available in all rooms and common areas.

The home is lovely and Chemise is a terrific hostess. She made us feel very welcome and even shared a recipe with us from the delicious breakfast she cooked. I suggest that you inquire about what room you are purchasing when you book so you receive one that meets your needs and expectations. We had a few issues with the room we were originally assigned but Chemise was able to assist us and made our stay very memorable. The Inn is lovely and very well- maintained and located. I highly recommend it.
