Love staying at Joanne’s place as it’s so relaxing compared to nearby hotels like the Norbrek.
It’s a home from home and easy check in via a phone call for the key box number .
Georgian properly, that’s someone’s home so expect a long climb up a staircase if your on the top floor .
Vintage and quirky and lgbt friendly too.
Cheap places to eat and drink nearby and I enjoyed a relaxing second stay at this property
No response to messages before arriving. Put on 3rd floor despite request. Tiny room, uncomfortable beds, dirty windows, miniscule bathroom, no hot water. Not good.
Short walking distance to town centre, peashome park, easy to aprk and free with car parking discs, clean very good price, also breakfast availalbe at the cafe which was very good value, so overall very good, issue was with expedia itself but not the hotel, Friendly owner so happy

Restful stay
Ideal place for a clean comfy bed to enjoy both the seaside and travel by rail to York .
I was attending York pride and this seaside room was much cheaper with the commute than staying in York’s historic city centre.
Nice landlady who let me in and sent the Wi-Fi pass code so I could enjoy my online movies on my laptop.
Good places to eat nearby including a Czech east European restaurant.

Ok with caveats
A place to sleep with limited facilities but value wise, no less than expected.
The room that was allocated was very smelly something had been spilt, when complained to reception was moved to another room but charged extra for the room.
The hotel is a converted older house. The quality of finish to the decorating is not high. But there is no sign of wear and tear, and everything is spotlessly clean.
We would have no hesitation in staying there again.
Good communication with the owner and easy to follow check in , parking permit left ready for use , if your a cricket fan you have a superb view of the ground
A place to stay and lay your head on a pillow. No cooking facilities and on /of WiFi.
Good location for a great local park with cafe.
Also close to the promenade, with walks or bus to Old Scalby Mills with access to the Cleveland way walk.
Quite rundown, didn’t expect much as it was one of the cheaper ones around and it was good I had low expectations. To be fair, the beds were very comfortable although one was noisy but the wallpaper was peeling, the en-suite was clean but again the decoration was in need of refreshing. Not much room and the carpet wasn’t great and the metal stand the kettle was on needed a good wipe down.
Not worth what we paid, very dated furniture and fittings, en-suite facilities were laughable and the ancient shower leaked water and burnt inside producing acrid and possibly poisonous fumes, we could not stay in the room for a few hours, had to use a shower on the top floor for our last night.

On arrival, had to phone the owner to let us in. Owner was very friendly and gave us information about the area. Property was ideally placed for walking up into Scarborough town centre or just down the road to the beach and other attractions. Only enough coffee for first two mornings with the electric kettle, asked for some more but none came so had to buy our own coffee and toilet rolls, no change of towels or linen for the whole week. Tv reception not great. Pictures on the website misleading.
Comfortable and clean, but windows didn’t open so a bit warm. Breakfast options at nearby local cafes. Amazing view of County Cricket ground from landing window for cricket lovers.
Location was good. Near a small cinema and 2 cafes. 7-8 min walk to the beach.
Very nice staff. Room was a good size. Good shower. Comfy bed. A bit run down but for the price we paid it was spot on.
This hotel is very run down and at that state where it will not look clean, no matter how much bleach is thrown at it. The walls are paper thin and make sleeping very difficult if you are a light sleeper. I slept very badly. I think the price was cheap but it should be much cheaper given the state of the bnb, maybe 10 pounds at a maximum.

Happy
The property is what you pay for, it was clean and tidy, the rooms had great beds very adequate, the chairs in the room were comfy with 2 extra poofs underneath, a great view of the cricket ground.
The owner made it so simple and she was pleasant.
No whinge here,
