Lodge was clean and comfortable but not fancy. Could do with a bit TLC but I would stay there again.

The log cabin was absolutely lovely.
The log cabin was absolutely lovely. A little dated in areas - but we didn’t mind that at all! Having all the 3 dogs with us it was perfect. The bed was super comfy, and there was just 2 of us with 6 beds! So we had our own bathroom each and could sleep in a separate room if the snoring got too much. Yes some may say it could do with updating, but for value for money what more could you want!!!
Stopped in a 3 bedroomed, 2 bathroom lodge, first impressions were good, struggled to find the lodge so had to go back to reception to ask where it was and was told it had a number 5 on the window, however this was not clearly seen and luckly a passerby had helped me. The Lodge was up for sale, and therefore it was the bare minimum. We had no pans so was unable to cook on the stoves, we only had one pyrex dish to make breakfast, we were only given one tea towel but was given some washing up liquid and a sponge.beds were comfy, Pillows were flat so ended up with 3 pillows. Had no towels or hand hand towels, luckly had take our own towels. Overall the campsite was peaceful, but the lodge had let it self down as if you are renting out the lodge you need bare minimum of pans to atleast to cook as there was nothing around the campsite and had to drive every where.

Definitely has potential but we didn’t benefit from the planned improvements
Booked a no pets lodge as we were accompanied by our very well trained assistance dog who would not be left on her own. Instead we were allocated a van with holes in the carpet and a pervading smell of previous dogs, vacuuming carpets made the smell far worse. Only when we borrowed another vacuum and used half a bottle of fabreeze did it improve. The lodge was very dated and not very well loved. The work surfaces were chipped, the sink was damaged, the oven seemed to steam not bake. The kettle leaked, the shower trap was broken and caused injury to one of our party. Paving stones surrounding lodge were loose and unstable - not ideal with a disabled member of party. Our intended quiet day ruined by felling of tree adjacent to the lodge. It went on for hours and we lost a lot of privacy. On arrival the site looked very tired. We did see a lot of improvement over the week we were there - the new owner seemed to be making good on some of the neglect. New owners and staff seem friendly and keen to improve the site. It’s a very quiet site with no wi fi but does have access to mobile networks. The lodge had a satellite television and dvd player from days of yore - but the stack of dvds to borrow made up for inability to watch streaming services bearable. There are plenty of forest walks nearby and a nice river. Site was quiet when no trees were being felled. Good proximity to Hawick, Selkirk and lochs for water sports I have hopes for the site under the new ownership.
