About this property

Hazeldene - a cottage that sleeps 8 guests in 3 bedrooms

  • Pet friendly, relaxing, stylish holiday cottage with opportunity to hire your own hot tub. The cottage has immediate access to the original coastal path that opens out to far reaching sea views onto Culver Cliff, Shanklin and Sandown Bay. Perfect for walkers, cyclists ornithologists and lovers of all things nature.

This detached cottage was built over 100 years and was originally thatched. The cottage has been thoughtfully updated and now designed to offer contemporary accommodation perfect for families, couples or small groups. The cottage features three delightfully light bedrooms a lounge with a cosy wood burner and separate dining areas both inside and out, ideal for relaxing meals or entertaining after a day by the seaside. There are beach toys plenty to borrow during your stay.

Adding a touch of charm and intrigue Hazeldene is said to have been built from the heart. Local stories tell that the original builder constructed the building as a labour of love for someone dear to him. Some even say that the original photo album of the house, a faint shadow can be seen - believed by some to be hers - adding a gentle sense of history and romance to this unique coastal retreat.

Fantastic stay

We had an amazing stay on the Isle of Wight Hazeldene however really made our trip It was a beautifully relaxing property. There was nothing that we needed that it didn’t have A huge amount of time, effort and care has gone into making this property what it is All of our party slept so well in this peaceful, calming cottage For us, the back garden was bliss. We sat out every morning, afternoon and evening, soaking up the sun and enjoying the view of the garden and surrounding land The whole property feels very private and not overlooked at all The trade off for this is you have to drive into town, but the very few cons are far outweighed by the pros The kitchen has everything you could possibly need, and the array of outside seating options are mind boggling, but we all found our favourite seats for the week! Jan was a fabulous host and communicated well if we needed anything If you are looking for a calming, peaceful, relaxing retreat, whilst still only being a 5 minute drive into town/beach, don’t hesitate, just book it!

Wonderful Stay

Perfect holiday home, located just a short drive from Shanklin. The beautiful garden and attention to detail really made our holiday complete Jan was a really lovely host and very helpful. There was only myself , husband , my mom and our two dogs but this house would be perfect for little ones as there’s a big playroom too .

5* Plus

What a wonderful home from home Hazeldene is and what a wonderful host Jan is - responsive and helpful. The house is very comfortable and extremely well equipped. Plus a lovely large private garden that was great for our dogs and with every configuration you could want for relaxing and dining. Jan and her family have obviously worked hard to create this haven but clearly enjoyed thinking of every detail to make your stay fun and interesting, especially for young ones with lots of toys, books craft bits and suggestions, so the house has a lovely feel to it. Well located in a quiet hamlet yet within walking distance to Shanklin (eateries and pubs etc) with great footpaths almost from the front door. We loved the Isle of Wight and this house was definitely the icing on the cake!
