The staff are very approachable and welcoming. Breakfast was wonderful. The indoor pool was very good. Valet parking was a wonderful touch.

Sidmouth Hotel
The hotel itself was exceptional, old world charm with service to match. However, after a 4 hour drive and expecting a busy next day I was looking for a good night's sleep. It did not happen. The single room was like a bake-house. I checked the radiator was off - several times. I opened both windows for the night - to no avail. I couldn't cool the room down and subsequently did not sleep well at all. I did have a busy day next day, ending with another 4 hour drive home. Hopefully not all the hotel rooms are so naturally warm, so to give it the benefit of my doubt I may stay again.

Comfort and elegance
Had a weekend break here. Staff were friendly and very professional. Tables and soft furnishings were constantly being sprayed and wiped. Our room was spacious with a balcony and sea view. Slight downside - no air conditioning in the room and weather was warm, however the window and balcony door could be left open. The food was outstanding and as good as any top cruise food we’ve had. The rooms were not serviced during our stay due to COVID but this was not a problem. Service from the staff was excellent. The hotel is conveniently placed for walking to the esplanade and into town.

Relaxing Break
Great stay at the Victoria Hotel. Initially when booked for a 2 night stay we were advised that we would have to change to another room for the second night due to the hotel being full, but when we arrived they were able to keep us in the same room due to a cancellation. We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel. Food and service were excellent.

Great hotel.
A beutiful hotel. We had a very warm welcome from the front of house. The hotel was decorated so beautifully for Christmas felt very magical. We had a sea view room which was clean, spacious with welcome chocolates and fruit. Food in the evening was lovely and we enjoyed the nand in the evening. Would highly recommend.

Saturday night at the Victoria.
Great location with short easy walk to the beach and town. Smart hotel with friendly staff. Our corner room was of a good size and we had a pretty good view of the sea. Plenty of hot water available. The Jubilee restaurant serves excellent food. Although I didn't use the pool, the area was clean and well lit. The resident quartet who played during dinner were very good and not too loud.

Comfortable and charming
We had a wonderful experience staying for 4 nights in October. The staff were amazing; very polite, efficient and helpful. The food was divine, as were the beds! We had the spa and pool to ourselves in the evenings. More of a special treat, because it was quite expensive overall; but well worth the money!

Seaside elegance
A lovely old-fashioned hotel yet relaxed and unfussy also, quite a feat. A beautiful building in a gorgeous location with warm and helpful staff ensuring a superb hotel stay. The food at breakfast and dinner was faultless, my room was extremely comfortable and provided all I needed and the general areas were beautiful as well as well-designed. I sampled both indoor and outdoor swimming pools and they were terrific also. Wifi good.

There was nothing wrong with the hotel. However, we were most annoyed when we found out that we were ‘bed’ only. Your charge was no different from the hotel charge for ‘bed omly’ So how on earth did you justify offering a stay at the ‘Victoria’. As it happened my husband was unwell and didn’t want dinner anyway,but I had expected the deal you offered us to have included at the very least a breakfast. That will teach me to trust your company again. I would be interested in your comments and in future when I want to go to the Victoria again I will book through them.Might as well, your charge and their charge for bed only is the same.

Lovely hotel - a bit old fashioned though.
It is a lovely hotel, fantastically located, beautifully furnished, very friendly and helpful staff. On the less positive side. It's a spa hotel with no fitness facilities or a steam room which I would expect to see. Formal dress code in main restaurant personally I find old-fashioned. I dress formally for work and thus prefer not to in my spare time. Fried breakfast is too expensive when a delightful cafe overlooking the beach is around 200 yards down the road does the same for 40% of the price. That said, we had a lovely time.

2 days of modest dissapointment
Hotel overpriced for what we received. They did not include breakfast . For 235 pounds the room was smaller then I thought it would be. The overall experience was moderate.

Nice hotel, but early wake-up noise!
A return weekend getaway to the hotel where my wife said "yes" to my marriage proposal! Almost all things you'd expect from a 4* hotel, but they put us in room 101 and got woken up around 6am each morning by mechanical noise (extractors from kitchen or A/C?). Complained after 1st night and was assured it was a water pump that they could turn off, so they didn't offer us an alternative room. Other than that slip-up, staff very attentive. Just don't let them put you in room 101, which is on corner above all the service rooms/kitchen.

A very comfortable hotel close to the beach and town. It was fully decorated for Xmas and looked lovely. The pool and spa looked excellent although we didn't use it. The food was very good.

Beautiful hotel. Great facilities, helpful staff and excellent food. My only disappointment was that the single room I was in was very small and very hot. There was no aircon and the window could only open a fraction. A fan was available and left in the wardrobe so they had thought about the issue.

Rest & Relaxation par excellence!
A weekend stay to wrap up two weeks annual leave and retirement! Wonderfully relaxing as well as invigorating. Strong winds and some rain were balanced with balmy sunshine and it was warm enough to sit out without a coat on! Food and service were as excellent as on my previous visits.

We had a superb three nights at the Victoria - not long enough as it was an excellent hotel, very comfortable, great food, and very friendly and polite staff - could not fault it at all. Recommended to us by friends and we can see why. Will be going back again.

Having had such a great experience in June I decided, very much at the last minute, to return to the hotel. It was as good as before plus the fact that I was welcomed back! Looking forward already to my next trip!

Very disappointing for a 4* hotel
We went for a 20th wedding anniversary celebration and were very disappointed. We had no indication on booking that a jacket was required for men at dinner - and despite my husband being dressed very smartly we were turned away from dinner in a very rude manner and told to eat in the bar (which was empty of both staff and patrons). Information in the room suggested that the hotel could provide jackets but this was not the case. The bed was uncomfortable, and the bathroom not of 4* standard. The hotel seems to be aimed at older patrons - for example we couldn't have breakfast before 8am even on a weekday, and the pools were closed until 8am in the morning. The whole place seemed stuffy and unwelcoming.

A room with a view!
Wow! a single room with an amazing view enhanced by blue skies and bright sunshine. The hotel is elegant and the restaurant serves excellent food. The staff are friendly but not intrusive. My only complaint was the constant dripping of the shower and a towel rail which could not be turned off. Would I stay again? ABSOLUTELY!

Old fashioned and charming
Not what i was expecting, very old fashioned (jacket and tie for dinner etc.) and i must have halved the average age of the typical guest by being there (I’m 39) but a charming and relaxing stay. In fact the only disappointment was the room which felt a little dated but i did have one of the cheaper rooms at the rear. The sea facing rooms are probably a lot better quality. Food was very good; service was excellent (always polite and smiling staff) and a lovely view from the main lounge of the sea and coastline.

Perfect place for a few days away
Wonderful few days away and we will be going there again. The staff were excellent - not too gushing but attentive. Room was clean and visited twice per day by domestic staff. The food was excellent. Putting green and indoor and outdoor pools clean and well-maintained. This grumpy old man had absolutely nothing to complain about.

Nice hotel, but service was not always forthcoming
Lovely hotel and great position on the sea front. However I felt rather ignored whenever I sat in the lounge - I was not acknowledged by the waiting staff or asked if I wanted to order any refreshments - I had only the previous week stayed at the Grand Hotel Eastbourne where the staff in the lounges are very attentive - the contrast was marked. Having said that, the reception staff were excellent and the waiter who served us our evening meal in the bar/lounge on Saturday night was also excellent.
