9/10 Wonderful! (407 reviews)
Overall, a really good hotel. I'd give it 5 stars for cleanliness, it was spotless. The only issue were the mattress, which was quite uncomfortable on one side and definitely needs replacing, and the parking space, which was very small and made parking a bit tricky. The location was great, with lots of lovely restaurants nearby. I'd definitely stay here again if I visit the area.

8/10 Very good! (380 reviews)
We chose not to have breakfast but the choice seemed good and the dining area is in a lovely setting.
My only gripes would be that there was no fridge or water in our room and I could not speak to a receptionist, having to leave a message instead the day before we arrived, which was not responded to.
Overall cleanliness was good.

"We had a very grumpy young receptionist on arrival. Not particularly inviting. However the room was clean and basic. A fridge would have been useful. The bar man, Tom I think was very pleasant, but it wasn’t good, that you had to ring reception to actually get a member of staff to attend the bar. ..."

"Large and grandiose Victorian hotel located close to town centre. Easy (though expensive) parking. Quick check-in. Nice large room except bathroom poorly laid out. Only two small lifts seemed inadequate for size of hotel. Very large and very grand common facilities including bar and restaurant. Nice ..."
