Our three‑night stay in the Whale Apartment at Steam pier near Tromsø was genuinely wonderful. The space itself was spotless, beautifully maintained, and offered fantastic panoramic views that made every morning feel special. The bed was super comfortable, the apartment was quiet, and the location struck the perfect balance — peaceful, yet still close enough to Tromsø to explore easily. What truly elevated our stay, though, was the exceptional staff. As we checked in, the two young people who welcomed us were an absolute delight. Both the young lady and the young man were wonderfully kind, genuinely helpful, and greeted us with bright, happy smiles that instantly made us feel welcome. Their friendliness and positive energy set the perfect tone for our stay and left a lasting impression. Parking: Parking is straightforward, but you do have to pay, and this is clearly stated in advance. Please don’t take it out on the staff when you arrive — they’re not responsible for the parking fees. Just factor the cost into your budget or choose accommodation with free parking if that suits you better.

The house was very clean and in great condition and we were able to see the northern lights right from the house which made it more wonderful 😀

A magical stay on the fjord's edge The AERA glass top igloo sits right on the Arctic waters, and the views are incredible. Falling asleep to the sound of waves is unforgettable, and mornings bring seagulls and ducks fishing outside, followed by sheep wandering by with bells tinkling as they graze. Inside, the igloo is warm and cozy, with lounge chairs perfect for spotting the northern lights or enjoying morning coffee. Breakfast is delivered in a basket — fresh bread, yogurt, egg, and juice. The private sauna with cold plunge option was a great bonus, and dinner in the main dining room was homey (try the Lappskaus stew!). Only downside: the bathroom is a walk from the igloo, so midnight trips mean a flashlight and coat. Still, a truly special experience overall!
