Steam Shower Hot Tub-Fabulous Views! In & Out Fireplaces-Free Wood-444+ reviews!
Casita Ave Maria is everyone's favorite. She is a 900-square foot, OPEN designed casita that was created and built by the Clancys. Casita Ave Maria has over 444 positive reviews. NEW MEXICO SAFE CERTIFIED.
Casita Ave Maria showcases a radiused front wall that opens up the floor space and makes the large kiva fireplace a focal point. David Clancy sculpted the incredible kiva and colored it with the perfect hue to offset it on the adobe-colored plaster that adorns all the walls. Natural wood cabinets shaped and built by David, knotty pine doors and tongue and groove ceilings wrap their warmth around you as you sit in this spiritual space and gaze out the Southern windows at the canyon, the Southwestern windows at the valley below and amazing sun sets or the mountains from the Eastern patio. Our casita is private and you have the entire patio and hot tub for your use only.
The original design of this casita boasts a HUGE patio on the Southern side, a serpentine-paved patio edged with decorative block piers with lighting insets. The Southwestern side hosts a large patio which can be accessed out the bedroom door. A 6-person hot tub and grand, outdoor fireplace await your arrival on this side and you can sit in the hot tub and marvel at the valley and canyon views, watch the sun rise and set, or count the shooting stars at night.
Talavera-tile adorns the kitchen cupboards and kitchen island. Brick-paved flooring with RADIANT FLOOR HEATING warm every step you take in this precious space. All NEW, stainless steel appliances await your use. Large, stackable washer and dryer is in its own closet.
The bedroom area is in the OPEN area of the entire casita but tucked away in the SouthWest side of the open space. Air-conditioning added July 2022.
A door to the SouthWest patio is off of the bedroom area making quick visits to and from the hot tub or the outdoor fireplace delightfully easy!! Pets are welcome with a pet fee. $150.00 minimum for one pet for a maximum of a week. We strongly prefer only one pet--there is no fenced in yard. Please let us know the breed of your dog when booking.
Spirit-soothing STEAM shower is stunningly slate-tiled with a glass door that encloses you in what we call the ''Enchanted Cave'' shower. Steam and dream away!
Starting supplies of wood are supplied for your use in both the indoor and outdoor fireplaces, basic start-ups of some spices, laundry and dish soap and paper products are supplied for your pleasure. Exterior camera on driveway/parking area.
Dog/Pet Fee-$150 minimum pet fee for one dog up to one week.
Everyone loves Casita Ave Maria! You will, too!
We highly recommend Travel Insurance-we don't travel without it. #HO-25-2018-Permit number. Also of note-Winter 2025 we had little moisture. As a result, we often have red flag warnings as it is extremely dry-high fire danger. If the weather conditions are dry during your stay, indoor and outdoor fires will not be allowed. However, if we get sufficient moisture before and during your stay… They may be possible. Since we can’t predict the weather, this changes day to day.

This property is beautiful, inside and out! The views are spectacular, including the many hummingbirds that hang around. The casita has everything you need and more. A really wonderful experience!
We had a fabulous time at the top of the canyon in our very homey New Mexico lodge It was close to all of our hikes and even had great books to help us find the next adventure. The fireplaces outside and inside were put to use each night and plenty of firewood to keep is warm. That warmth let us view the sunset each night. We took our dog and it was perfect because he was in our “yard” when we closed the gate. Thank you for such a nice setting. I expect us returning to this place to see another season.
My husband and I had a lovely two-night stay at Casita Ave Maria. The space was warm and welcoming. Well-appointed with many comforts and luxuries. We enjoyed the hot tub and great views.
Out of all the places that my wife and I have stayed within the Enchanted Circle, this is hands down the best, From the location of the casita, the surroundings and the overall pleasantness of our host we would not trade it for a hotel in town. We plan to stay again next year.
I cannot say enough about our stay at the casita. Tammi has outfitted it with everything you would need. She is extremely responsive and genuinely wants her guests to enjoy their stay. This is our 2nd time staying here and we did not hesitate. Thank you again for incredible memories.
Definitely recommend. Private, safe, great views, comfortable bed, nice amenities, and awesome layout. We had to motivate to leave the place each day to explore the area. Dog loved hanging out on the deck, she never barked because it's so private and peaceful. Immediate responses from owners throughout. Overall a great weekend spent celebrating our Anniversary.
It was one of my favorite places I have ever stayed. Loved the outdoor space as well. The only 2 things that were not perfect is the barking dogs and some of the dishes/silverware had to be washed before using. Clean, all items for our use were in good condition. Bed was very comfortable. I would stay here again I. A heartbeat
This is by far the most wonderful place we’ve ever stayed! The attention to detail- and to beauty and coziness was just perfect. It’s a special place, made with such love and intention. We especially appreciated the fully stocked kitchen, plethora of interesting books, the steam shower, hand painted rocks with messages of inspiration - and of course the hot tub with a stunning view!
Home was so clean and well-ordered. Location was great, easy access to Taos and other areas. Hot tub and steam shower were a plus. Beautiful stars at night from great deck. Communication from owner could not have been better. Well worth the money.
Great hosts with a lovely home. This is our 3rd time and we absolutely love it!! We always try to stay here but this place books fast. Lovely views and extraordinary home. It’s stocked with everything you need. The hot tub is amazing. Again, there are no worlds to explain on how thoughtful the owners are in making sure we or anyone that stays here has the best experience!!
I can’t say enough great things about this property, from the views to the amenities. We felt at home and had all our little luxuries needed for a fabulous stay. The owner was quick to communicate with and provided great local ideas for dinners, groceries, etc. if you are in the Taos area this is a must stay place for a quiet remote stay. The stars and silence around is amazing. Thanks again
The casita was exactly as described, and even better! It had beautiful views, indoor and outdoor fireplaces, a fine hot tub that was good and warm at 20 degrees, and a snow event. The owner answered every text and message promptly and even volunteered to find us some help when our vehicle broke down! The location is perfectly between Taos and Red River, with no city lights or traffic. Taos-proper is only 10-15 minutes away, and there is a decent convenience store/restaurant 5 minutes down the road for items you forgot. We will definitely recommend this great place and will return when possible.
This rental is wonderful. Everything was just as described and pictured. It was very clean and well stocked with essentials, towels, etc. Communication with the host was excellent before, during and after. They gave wonderful directions and recommendations. The rental is private with wonderful views and sunsets. The hot tub and hummingbirds were a treat. We highly recommend it and would not hesitate to rent it again.
The house was more beautiful than the pictures had portrayed. It was stocked with all the comforts of home. The view was spectacular. Sunrise and sunsets were special events.. The property is only a few miles from Taos Ski Resort, downtown Taos and shopping, The Rio Grande Gorge, also Arroyo Seco.
Tammi was so attentive to our needs. It was the perfect place to celebrate our 30th anniversary!
We hope to return someday soon.
We just wanted peace during the election results and to cook a nice meal, relax, enjoy nature, and prepare for reentry. This place was fantastic for that. Other than a few cobwebs, and dishes being washed by the last tenants (always a little creepy and not so effective) the place was very clean. When they say starter wood - we thought they meant kindling but really, they provide a lot of wood for the fireplace. The linens - both the towels and the sheets were very high quality.
Nice place but neighborhood is not people or dog friendly.
We brought our 2 year old, well behaved Boston Terrier. The house was very nice and well appointed with one king bed. The outdoor space was great with the fireplace and hot tub and nice view. The only real negative is the neighborhood is not people or pet friendly. We were not even allowed to walk down the driveway with or without our dog. So we had to drive just to get away from the property. Overall it was very nice.
We stayed at this beautiful casita for 9 nights in May. Listened to new birds, saw new stars and satellites and tripped into Taos and Arroyo Seco for great art and food. This casita was full of interesting and unusual art and relevant books. Also the kitchen was a cooks dream. The pantry even contained most of the basic supplies and spices we needed to make green pozole! Our hosts were extremely responsive to the few questions we had. Although we didn't use the hot tub it did look supremely inviting! Our only issue was the altitude, making us huff and puff with the slightest exertion (we normally live at 900' above sea level, as well we are in our late 60's). Clearly our hosts couldn't remedy these issues! We especially loved the semi-isolation of this house! While the grocery market was only about 10 minutes away and Arroyo Seco maybe 15, the stars were clear, birds interesting and coyotes melodious! Next time we're in Taos we will try to stay here again!!
This casita was the perfect stay. From the moment I booked the owner was in perfect communication. Everything I needed she answered very quickly. The casita is as good in person as the pictures posted. The wrap around porch made it where you could sit outside anytime of the day. The hummingbirds were so fun to watch. The temperature was too warm for the spa and steamy shower so I can’t speak to those. There were so many books, art supplies, and plenty of tv if you wanted to take advantage of those. The location was great where you felt like you were the only one there, but yet only about 10 minutes to Arroyo Seco and about 15 minutes to Taos. The inside is immaculate. Clean, fully stocked, and plenty of places to sit. The bed was plenty comfortable and a really good nights rest and /or nap. I visited most of the places the owners had told me to go eat and they were right. Orlando’s ended up being my most favorite. Overall and excellent place to get away. I wish I could’ve stayed longer.
