This is a very old pub in a relatively poor state of repair. While I understand the difficulties associated with any attempt to modernise what is probably a listed building, there can be no excuse for the somewhat dilapidated state of the hotel. My room was clean and quite spacious, but in need of decoration and some design changes e.g. it needed at least one chair and a better place to hang one’s clothes. The bathroom was in an adjacent room and was clean and functional, but several of the fittings were damaged and needed repair or replacement. The breakfast was excellent and good value for money. The staff were all friendly and helpful. One guest had used the word “quirky” in the guest comments book. I certainly agree with that. It could be so much more.

Lovley old pub full of character, friendly family running it, good local bees and ciders, excellent food reasonably priced, as you would expect from the Routiers badge. A real find so we hope to return often. Yes, because it is old, the decor and things like the windows are far from modern, but who cares? We hate places that are spic and span, "perfect" or "luxury". If that's what you want, with impersonal obsequious service, go somewhere else.

Comfortable old pub in quiet location
A historic and picturesque pub and my room no.4 was spacious with an en-suite bathroom featuring a bath and shower. On a quiet street in the village with a large garden. I reported the hit tap in the wash basin was loose and 2 of 3 bulbs in the central light weren't working (I'm sure this will have been rectified quickly).

Charming historic pub in a stunning location. Lovely bed, nice food and great beer. The room was a little tatty - peeling wall paper etc - but given the age of the building and the very keen prices it's a compromise that is worth making. Top value.

So good we extended our stay!
Gorgeous hotel, ideal location, peaceful, tranquil and set within beautiful countryside... the beer garden is spacious, green, has ample benches and boasts wonderful views. The food is fantastic, breakfast and dinner and prices are very reasonable for food and drinks alike. The owners are friendly and helpful as are al the staff - very accommodating and nothing is too much trouble. There's even dog bisuits in plentiful supply - something very much appreciated by my collie. I love the character of the place, its extremeley good value and will certainly be returning.

Location is beautiful at anytime of year. The pub its self has a very old fashioned Game feel to it. Love how it’s kept its history and not moved with the times. Everything an old pub in a location like this should be. B&B was very comfortable and clean.

What a gem, a 15th century grade 2 listed coach house and stables. Unspoilt with the best staff ever felt like we have known them years, great food 😋 went up for wedding in crowcombe court and stayed here with family, thankyou all great experience see you in the summer.

Beautiful hotel and amazing landlords, staff and other guests were great too. Shout out to one of the locals Jerry, had us laughing for hours! Really friendly and helpful landlords, will definitely stay again

Hidden Gem in the countryside.
Arrived quite late in the evening and had a lovely welcome by the owner. Lovely small pub with plenty of character. Clean and quiet rooms and the property is in a lovely quiet area. Perfect for exploring the outdoors. Highly recommended!

I wish I hadn't bothered.
Adequate. I arrived late (traffic) at 20.50. I asked about ordering a sandwich. The barman said the kitchen closed soon (21.00) then told me all the machines were turned off so no food. I neglected to ask what machines were required for a sandwich. However a look at the surly woman in a black kitchen uniform chugging away on her cigarette in the pub garden confirmed the apathy that has overtaken the place.

The staff were lovely, very helpful and courteous. The room was well laid out with plenty of space and a comfortable clean bed. The private bathroom was well maintained and had everything you would need provided. The meals and breakfast were tasty and even my fussy 13 yr old enjoyed it and ate it all.

When I booked I must have missed the fact that the price of this B&B didn’t include breakfast as I had to pay extra for breakfasts before leaving. Disappointing.

Loved the Carew Arms, staff are all so friendly and helpful, food is amazing, they made me and my dogs feel very welcome. Would definitely recommend it and go back!!

the property was in a good location, I only used the one room, witch could have done with the whole room being decorated the bed was O K. but the stairs where very dangerous. the on suite had been refurbished but that also could do with being decorated.

Thanks for your review. The pub is 500 years old, and whilst the stairs are not like those in a Holiday Inn, they are definitely not dangerous.

Clean and comfortable.. Wi-fi is rubbish so working out of the question but the food was amazing. Lock on the shared bathroom door could do with fixing. Staff were friendly, would stay again.
