"The hotel’s location was one of the highlights of our stay. It was conveniently situated within walking distance of the sand dunes, which were approximately 1.5 miles away. This made it easy to enjoy the unique desert landscape without having to drive or worry about parking. The property was also located just a few miles from Mosaic Canyon, which offered an enjoyable and scenic hike featuring a small slot canyon and beautiful rock formations. For those looking to explore more of Death Valley’s iconic sights, the hotel was also well positioned, with Zabriskie Point and the Salt Flats located about a 35-minute drive away.
We appreciated the spaciousness of the room, which provided plenty of comfort after long days of exploring the park. The available parking was another convenience, allowing us to come and go easily while visiting different areas of Death Valley.
The hotel also offered several useful on-site amenities, including restaurants, two very nice gift shops, a pool, and a gas station (there were not many in the area). The breakfast buffet was a standout feature, offering a good variety of options and making for a convenient start to the day. However, we found the dinner experience to be less impressive, as the food was mediocre and the prices felt quite high. Despite this, the combination of the excellent location, comfortable accommodations, and convenient amenities made the hotel a great base for exploring Death Valley."
"It ain’t the ritz Carlton but it’s also super cheap. A/C works great, shower works great, it’s 20 yards from the Main Street so very walkable and they even have a washer and dryer if you need to do laundry. Perfect for the night if you plan on heading up to the Sierras or just want to check out Alabama Hills, Bishop, etc. Not a romantic spot but serves is purpose perfectly."
"Such a fantastic stay! The house was clean, bright, and incredibly well stocked with everything we could have needed. Communication was helpful and straightforward, and everything was very comfortable. I'll definitely be staying here the next time I'm in Lone Pine."
Preserved by its remoteness and the dry desert heat, the remains of an early 20th-century mine make it look as though it was abandoned just a few years ago.
