The Black Hat

8/10 Good

"An exceptional hotel room above a busy pub. The room had everything we needed and was large and comfortable for a family of 4. We loved the hamper with breakfast treats and the fridge in the room. The coffee machine and fan were a treat. The only negatives I can think of are that its very noisy, which even though we knew it was above a pub, we didn’t expect it to be as loud as it was. It was karaoke night but the sound proofing is non existent, luckily we were shattered so dropped off pretty easily in the comfy beds, but just to be mindful of if you are a light sleeper or have children with you. The car parking is also a little confusing … on this site it says it’s £6 for 24 hours on the carpark behind the pub which is not true. It was £1.50 an hour up until 10pm we then had to go back the next morning at 8am to pay again for more hours….This was misleading on this website. Other than that we did have an enjoyable stay and Ilkley is delightful."

"We have stayed here a few times while visiting family. On this occasion when we arrived there was no one on reception to greet you, there was a bell to press and after a short while someone arrived. Check in all ok, staff helpful. Our standard room was quite large with all usual facilities. Room was clean and tidy. Bathroom consisted of bath with shower (and toilet). Breakfast was good with plenty of choice of cereals, fruit, juices, tea, coffee and cooked (buffet style) etc. The staff in the restaurant were very pleasant, especially on the first morning we were there. We did not eat in the hotel for dinner (note they do not serve meals on a Sunday or Monday night). Only slight issue we had was that our key cards did not work on two occasions and had to go back down to reception to sort out. Ample free car parking available on site. Hotel is situated about 10 minute walk from Ilkley where there are shops and restaurants. Overall nice stay. Thank you."

"This is a beautiful little cottage which was perfect for a 2-night stay visiting friends in Ilkley. There were 3 of us and we had a room each (2 bedrooms and 1 had the sofa bed in the living room). Very comfortable and clean, and the whole process was very smooth and easy - our hosts were fantastic, leaving milk in the fridge and homemade chocolate muffins on our arrival. The hot tub is wonderful - very easy to use. The parking is very close, and having a coffee shop literally two steps away over the cobbled street was fantastic. Will definitely stay again."

"Absolutely fab! Great location, lovely details that made us feel so special. We were only there for 2 nights but wish we’d been there longer. Very close to Bolton Abbey, and lovely walks near the house. We took our dog and kids, the kids thought we were in a magic house, it was so beautiful. Comfy beds, lovely and clean. The hosts were incredibly helpful and pointed us in the direction of fun things to do in the area. Felt like a home from home and were planning to visit in the Summer holidays. Can’t recommend enough :)"
