Hotel Universel Montreal

8/10 Good

"The hotel is a little bit dated. Location was good for our purpose, with free parking. But I would not recommend this location if you want to go to the old port every day. Restaurant is ok, I was surprised the restaurant was closed for the Canada vs Morocco game."

"The suite (appreciated the upgrade) was very nice and spacious if a little dated. It was very clean. The hotel was in a perfect location with easy access to the Place des Festivals, Old Montreal, and the train station. The breakfasts were nice and convenient. The room could have used more lighting (both the bedroom and living rooms were dark at night - I couldn’t see to work at the desk) and some real plates/utensils in the kitchen would have been nice. I’ll definitely be back next year!"

Hotel Le Cantlie Suites

"Very nice hotel. Everything downtown is all within walking distance and very easy to get to. The room I got had a nice little kitchenette with silverware and things you would need if you were actually going to make a meal in the room. Plenty of seating if you don’t want to just sit on the bed. The sofa and chair were very comfortable with a large desk also in the room. The only thing I will say is that if you have a larger size rental car they may not be able to park you in the valet garage. I had a Toyota sedan so I did not have a problem. The other thing I will say is that if you’re there on a busy weekend be prepared to wait in a line for one of the three elevators as there are a lot of floors and the elevators are not very big."
