"Deceptive. When they offer you $20 off at the bar or restaurant for each day of your stay, take them up on it. It ain't a freebie.The $20 comes off the $35-$40 destination fee (or "tax" as the staff called it). This way you at least get some of your money back. "

"This property was definitely no frills. There was no fridge, microwave, phone, or TV in the room, but I think cost reflected that. The bathroom was nice, and the windows were beautiful and had a nice view of the street below. There is no elevator, but it was a fun walk up the stairs for us, and they were super helpful in carrying our bags upstairs. Perfect for our stay in NYC over the holidays (3 college girls). The area felt very safe and was very close to public transit, and there was plenty nearby to do and see in the East Village. Ray's Pizza on the corner is 24 hours which was a lifesaver on Christmas, and the front desk uncle at St. Marks was super kind and knowledgeable about the area and things to see around NYC. Great place to stay if you just need somewhere to sleep and want somewhere central to transportation."

"Nice, creative ambience, friendly staff, great location. I have stayed at Freehand New York many times, and I am always satisfied. Especially when arriving at Grand Central, getting to Freehand is very easy, and from here you have easy access to everything while still being a bit off the beaten track. "
