Here and there, rare tree species surround the pond and stream, which provide welcome coolness in summer. A little further on, on a lawn, the traditional apple orchard offers an inspiring retreat, where nature puts on a spectacular display of colors.
At the end of the day, the fireplace provides a pleasant alternative to the sun, and you can use the built-in barbecue.

Jean-Marie Dumaine, originally from the Bocage Virois, is a star chef across the Rhine and his wife Colette was born in the cottage. The chef has been cooking with 350 species of plants for 40 years. They are based in Sinzig, a German town near Bonn. He fell in love with the region, the Rhineland, and repatriated his wife and children there forty years ago. “I've always been impressed by German rigour,” he confides with a smile.
