"Overall we had a very nice stay. It was centrally located between the places we needed to go and Uber was able to drop off and pick up easily. Online we understood a shuttle could take us within 3 miles, which was one reason we selected the hotel. But when we arrived, they explained it was an Uber service during limited hours to limited locations, so we couldn't benefit from it. Although we only used both amenities once, the pool hours are good (open until 10 pm) and they a have free glass of wine in the afternoon. The continental breakfast is the exact same daily, which is a good offering, but it would be nice to have some boiled eggs or some other light protein option as opposed to the large pay breakfasts. The rooms are a bit small and we would have preferred queen beds instead of doubles for a family of 3. But that's mainly due to the shape of the hotel, which limits the size of the spaces. We made it work. The only issue we ran into were some young women under the influence yelling in the halls at 4AM for 30 minutes who woke up everyone on ours and neighboring floors. The hotel said they would comp us something for the disturbance, but I don't know that we were or that the hotel was able to address the badly mannered guests in any way. Aside from a few challenges, we enjoyed our stay."

"The staff at the hotel are really nice and professional. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. Good walkable location to lots of restaurants and shopping. The room was clean, but a little bit worn out and tired. Soundproofing was not great and there is major construction across the road that woke me up early every morning. "

"We booked Surf Rider based on the strong reviews, especially the repeated mentions of great hospitality-but unfortunately, our experience didn't reflect that at all. The rooms are extremely small, and the noise from PCH is constant and very loud, making it difticult to relax or sleep. I asked if there was any possibility of moving to a quieter room, but the only option offered was to pay an additional $450-$1000, which felt unreasonable. We were also staying here to celebrate my wife’s birthday, and there was no acknowledgment whatsoever—no small gesture or even a simple mention, which was disappointing given the hotel's reputation for hospitality. The front desk representative look at us like we had four heads when mentioned the celebration. Overall, for the price point, I expected a much more comfortable and thoughtful experience. This stay fell short. Very disappointed we chose this over the Malibu Beach Inn who actually provides a getaway experience reflective of the price point. There’s not a rogue one or a robe."

"We had a good stay, it is definitely an older building that has been remodeled but it feels like they have done their best with it. The elevator broke while we were there but they quickly had the engineer out to fix it. Can be slightly noisy just because it’s all hard flooring so I feel like sound kind of echos. Everything was clean, especially bedding which is always a huge plus. Beds were comfy, rooms are big. Excellent location."

"I have enjoyed my stay. I have one constructive comment. Tuesday to Friday during my stay the property was working on the wooden decks and wood panelling. This meant that every day from 7 or 8 depending on the day to about 4 there were at least 2 is not 3 workman working right outside my unit. SA3. The gentlemen themselves were lovely, quiet and hard working, but there tasks, among other things involved, sanding and using a blower and a dryer, so quite noisy. As guests we should be warned or notified in advanced that this will happen. I still enjoyed my stay, but it was not tranquil, which is why a book a place right on the ocean. It was not good and although I understand a property needs to be main rained and the "season" is approaching, the inconvenience should have been communicated and reflected in some gratuity for my stay in my opinion beyond a 2 hour free late check out.
