Between Expedia and the property owner, this was booked as non-refundable even though it was shown as flexible booking with option to cancel before 3pm on day prior to reservation.
Unfortunately, had a bereavement in the family and needed to cancel at 4pm the day prior to reservation. Expedia helped and called the manager at the desk, I spoke to the manager, and even got the email to the property owner who has put strict restrictions on any cancellations to just take customers money. Property owner couldn't even reply my email. Not sure what kind of short-sighted process to managing the business this is...I'm sure if my mother-in-law stayed, there'd be more terrible experiences
