• Before you lock in a flight, check if any travel restrictions apply — in both your destination and origin. Keep informed with the latest updates by reviewing official government websites.
• You're required to wear a face mask at the airport, including at screening checkpoints. You should be prepared to lower your mask to verify your identity when asked by a TSA officer.
• Instead of handing a TSA officer your boarding pass, position it straight on the scanner yourself. After that, hold it up for inspection.
• TSA now permits passengers to take one container of hand sanitizer, up to 12 oz (350 ml) in size, in carry-on baggage. This will have to be removed from your bag to be screened.
• Empty everything from your pockets, like your wallet and phone, and put them in your carry-on instead of into bins. This will reduce handling during the screening process.
• If you want to take food through the security checkpoint, put it in a clear plastic bag and then into a screening bin. This lessens the likelihood that a TSA employee will need to touch your carry-on bag or food container for closer inspection.
