The host said we could drop our bags from 11 am - grateful, we appreciated this offer. We got there at 11:25 am and didn’t find the key. Messaged the number, they said to knock, after 40 min they advised the previous guests left the key inside instead of the lockbox. No problems, stuff happens. We stored our bags at a luggage storage and returned at 15:08 hrs, (check in is 15:00 hrs), they called and disconnected. I called them back to find out that they don’t have a spare key.
They offered to move us to the Mestre or Murano, which we declined as we wanted to be in Venice and asked to find us something there. About 30 min later they said they have booked us a hotel on the other side of the island for 1 night and the accommodation will be ready at 10 am the next day. Didn’t offer to pay for transport. No problems, appreciated the prompt solution.
The next day I messaged them 10:12 am to check if the property was ready (it was supposed to be ready by 10). Didn’t hear back, so I called at 11:15 (no answer) and sent messages to follow up. 5 min later they said it would be ready in 1 hour.
At 12:48 pm (it was supposed to be ready at 12:20), I messaged to check again, I was given another 20 min.
At 13:41 hrs I messaged again, I got an auto message that the office is closed, gave a new number.
That person refused to answer calls and said that the key is there but it’s not clean. When I asked for time, there was no reply.
At 14:00hrs I called Expedia to complain and book elsewhere.
