Best place to stay on the Algarve coast!!

We had an amazing stay in a beautiful room. The hotel staff was very accommodating and allowed us to extend our stay because we loved the hotel so much. The hotel is located in a small quaint village with many great restaurants all within walking distance.

Staff was super friendly and helpful. Can't say a bad word about the our experience in Burgau. Our room with the balcony and ocean view capped off our fabulous time in Portugal.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Praia do Burgau! The staff was wonderful! The breakfast area was beautiful! The hotel is located in the small town of Burgau. It was located close to the beach and several very good restaurants. We highly recommend staying there!

Perfect location and hotel for a quiet beach trip

A clean, comfortable, convenient hotel located in a National Park in a quiet, picturesque village. Parking onsite is a bonus since there seems to be little parking available around town. A very walkable location with easy, albeit hilly, access to the beach and restaurants. The staff was very informative and helpful. The breakfast offered ample tasty choices. This location is an especially nice alternative to Lagos or Sagres for those who would rather commune with nature than the masses found in other nearby resorts. Bring somewhat secluded and off the beaten path is what made Burgau a charming choice for my husband and me.

Safe and reliable option when visiting Burgau. Central position, close to shops, bars, restaurants and the beach.Great breakfast with a large choice, bacon,eggs, cold meats, cereals and fresh fruit and more. Well run with a nice pool, good views of the sea from the more expensive rooms with small balconies. I find it a little pricey but it is probably me remembering when it was a lot cheaper. But then I've been coming to Burgau for 35 years, when the roads were sandy tracks getting here

Great at reception but odd location, almost overlooked. It was inexpensive which was a plus as it was on a whim I stayed in the area. But the place was pretty empty and had that feeling of being almost abandoned. I believe the place is for sale so that kind of makes sense. Restaurant or bar no longer in operation. Breakfast friendly enough, but sparse like some other recommendations.. get the impression the place is barely hanging on.. convenient to local restaurants which it looked like there were a lot of good ones, but the beach imo is not one I would choose to hang out at with so many other nicer ones around.

Unbearably hot, rude when we asked for a fan

Chose this hotel because of location, parking & air conditioning, given that it was Aug & very hot. Room only had a portable unit that truly did nothing to cool our room & gave off so much heat it made it worse. The exhaust tube leaked hot air into the room & the whole unit & wall behind was so hot it completely negates having AC. Other reviews (that I wish I had seen prior to my fiancé booking) mentioned this issue so this was not a unique experience. We tried everything to make the room comfortable, to no avail. We ended up sleeping with wet wash cloths on our bodies to try and stay cool. The bed was uncomfortable. The sheets were stained. The pool was freezing. Breakfast was hard boiled eggs, sliced white & brown bread, some sliced cheese, cheap ham, & bacon that was always empty, & margarine & jam. Everything was perpetually on the verge of running out, regardless the hour. Many of the places we stayed on this trip were quite rustic, with no AC, & were not this uncomfortable. We felt totally duped by the price & promises versus the experience we had. We were looking for alternatives by our 3rd night. We debated sleeping in the car. We debated sleeping on the beach. When we awoke on our last day, wet wash cloths on our bodies, we said, “It’s over!” We couldn’t wait to leave. Truly unacceptable for paying nearly $900 to stay there.

Lovely Hotel in Burgau

Lovely hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Spotlessly clean throughout, rooms cleaned and serviced daily. Beautiful pool area (although does need a few umbrellas for shade) with bar and food available. They made us feel relaxed and welcome from the start.

Hotel only just open with rooms not completely finished, however this did not cause any problems. Rooms are very spacious and very comfortable bed.
