About this property
Crabden Shepherd Hut - Blendworth - sleeps 2 guests in 1 bedroom
This lovely romantic retreat is tucked away in the peaceful hamlet of Hangersley, set within the beautiful rural grounds of the host's private estate and also within the New Forest National Park.
The nearby market town of Ringwood is just a mile away and offers a fantastic selection of country pubs, independent cafés, tea rooms, and restaurants, along with excellent takeaway options. The New Forest itself is within half a mile, placing miles of open countryside right on your doorstep. You will find charming villages, traditional pubs, and sweeping heathland where ponies, cattle, and deer roam freely.
The area is a haven for walkers and cyclists, with direct access to countless forest trails, riverside walks, and scenic bike routes. Popular attractions nearby include the Avon Valley Path, Moyles Court, Bolderwood Deer Sanctuary, Bashford Lakes Nature Reserve, the Heavy Horse Museum, Burley Manor, and the picturesque New Forest villages of Burley, Brockenhurst, and Lyndhurst. The south coast, including Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Mudeford, is also easy driving distance and is ideal for beach days and coastal dining.
The shepherd's hut has been designed to an exceptional standard. Inside, it is cosy, warm, and well insulated, featuring a bespoke kitchenette with a mini-Butler sink, mini fridge, two ring hobs and a small mini-oven. A Chilli Billie log burner and an outdoor fire pit provide additional cooking options and keep the space snug on cooler evenings. Logs are provided for your first night, with more available to purchase on site.
The comfortable double bed is dressed with a luxury mattress and crisp cotton sheets and includes built in storage for luggage. Wake up to open countryside views and the sound of birdsong drifting in through the windows. Outside, you can unwind beneath clear skies with very little light pollution, making this the perfect spot for stargazing.
The bathroom is a true indulgence, featuring a waterfall tap, handheld shower, additional rainfall shower, heated towel rail, adjustable shaving mirror, and fluffy towelling robes to complete your stay in comfort.
The owner includes a welcome pack for guests including teas, coffee and milk.
Excellent transport links make exploring the area simple. The A31 is close by, offering easy access to Southampton and Salisbury, both approximately 18 miles away, as well as Bournemouth Airport and Christchurch at around 8 miles. Ringwood is just 1 mile away, while nearby train stations provide direct routes to London and destinations across the South Coast.
Local amenities are close at hand and include a Tesco Express, an independent bakery, an off licence, a fish and chip shop, and a local chemist. At the end of the lane is In-Excess Garden Centre, which sells plants and gifts and has a lovely cafe called Charlotte's Tea Room. Here you can enjoy anything from local bakery treats to a full English breakfast or light lunch.
There is also a great selection of local pubs. The London Tavern is just 0.4 miles away and offers traditional ales and excellent classic English food. Other popular pubs within a three-mile radius include The Alice Lisle, Red Shoot, and The High Corner, where local donkeys and ponies can often be seen roaming nearby at certain times of the year. There is also a beautiful herd of deer that often pay visits in the gardens. There are many country shows and events such as the new forest show, Christchurch food festival, music and jazz events car shows and carnivals. Ringwood Christchurch and Salisbury have regular markets and there are farm shops too.

What a lovely place..quiet and secluded. This hut had al the mod cons for a cosy getaway. Plenty of places to eat in the small town. Kim the host was lovely and welcoming. We will be more than happy to visit again.
