8/10 Good

Driftwood at Whitehall is in a lovely location overlooking the harbour at Whitby.

Driftwood at Whitehall is in a lovely location overlooking the harbour at Whitby. The apartment is classed as a luxury one which overall it is but and this is a very Big But the mattress on the double bed is very old and broken, with one side nearly touching the bed base as the springs are no longer doing their job. This meant that we both slept badly. There is also quite a bit of road noise as the building is next to the main road into Whitby, that, with the boiler also being in the main room meant that there was a constant background noise in the evenings. The smart TV is only smart if you take your own plug in for Sky/Prime so as I forgot ours we could only receive a very small amount of Freeview channels with no IPlayer etc being available. The teapot had been dropped and then mended badly and the cowhide rug moved seemingly all by its' self and would not lie still on the floor so could be a trip hazard if we weren't careful. With all this you might be thinking we didn't have a very good week but there was many more things right with the apartment and the the location that made up for all of the above. Would we go again...yes if I could be reassured that the mattress had been renewed. Don't forget to sample the brilliant food at the Magpie cafe and chip shop but do book at busy times or go as they open to get a table.
