We spent an amazing bank holiday weekend in this property.
We spent an amazing bank holiday weekend in this property. The accommodation had everything you could possibly need and was clean and spacious. I think we definitely had 'the best seat in the house' with views of the 199 steps, the Abbey, harbour and see.
The location was exceptional, right at the foot of the 199 steps, with stunning views from the Master Bedroom. The photos really don't do the property justice; it is beautiful, tradition, cosy, and well appointed. The secure parking was a huge bonus and very much appreciated.
The stairs initially felt a bit scary (3 flights of spiral stairs), but we soon adjusted to them. There is a safety bar near the bathroom that could benefit from improvement to prevent the half-asleep accidentally falling down the stairs in the middle of the night, but we managed to not fall down.
We easily filled our 3 day stay without ever using the car, could have done a lot longer; there is so much to see and do, and the beaches and walking for cheaper activities.

A very enjoyable property only marked down due to low seat level and my dodgy knees.

I love the quicky character of the cottage.
I love the quicky character of the cottage. The weather was blowing a gale when we first arrived and we could hear the rattling in the windows at the attic room. This add to the character. Location was fantastic for exploring. It was not easy to access property.

Lovely cottage at the bottom of the 199 steps, cottage comfortable, soft clean bedding and towels.
Lovely cottage at the bottom of the 199 steps, cottage comfortable, soft clean bedding and towels. Soft, comfy sofas to spend time on in the cosy downstairs lounge. Only a couple of issues that are easily sorted, I had to wash any baking trays I wanted to use as they had been put away dirty by other visitors. The toaster and iron could do with replacing. This would not put me off staying again as I feel it is something the owners of the cottage are unaware of.
Whitby is a great place to stay and there are lots of restaurants and coffee shops nearby. A walk to Sandsend is recommended.

Such a wonderful cottage, amazing location, beautiful views, great facilities in the cottage, very clean and well decorated. Parking is a massive bonus, although slightly tricky to find. So close to the 199 stairs to the Abbey but not noisy. Looking forward to a return visit
