The Nook is full of character, featuring exposed beams, stonework and wood burning stove. Downstairs, Postgate Nook has an open plan living room, kitchen and dining area with ample facilities for 2 persons. New for 2024 is the newly fitted luxury kitchen with granite worktops. Upstairs there is a double bed, en-suite toilet and luxurious free standing bath area. The bath has a shower attachment but not a stand up shower. Off-road parking for one family car is provided, and outside is a private sitting area with stunning views over Glaisdale Dale. There is a TV with Freesat satellite TV, FREE superfast wi-fi broadband and a DVD player with a range of DVDs.
Note all linen and towels are included.
Note Postgate Nook may also be suitable for parents with one young infant (plenty of space to set up a travel cot either upstairs or downstairs). Travel cot and high chair available on request.
Postgate Farm is set in a beautiful, peaceful location in Glaisdale Dale, within the fabulous North York Moors National Park, yet less than half an hour from Whitby and the beautiful Cleveland coastline. The cottage has stunning views to the South over the Dale to the forests and moorlands beyond. The Dale itself is served by just one road which means very little traffic, yet is only a mile from the thriving village community of Glaisdale and all its amenities including the village pub, award winning butchers, post office and general store, tennis court, cricket ground and the Robinson Institute, home of the renowned Esk Valley Theatre Company. The village has a railway station and is served by local bus routes. Glaisdale is an ideal holiday location, with stunning walks and cycling available without even getting in your car. A little further afield are other parts of the North York Moors, with pretty villages such as Goathland, Grosmont, Egton, Lealholm, Rosedale Abbey and Egton Bridge just a few minutes drive or a healthy hike away, or by using the picturesque Esk Valley Railway, which runs from Whitby to Middlesborough, and also connects to the famous North York Moors Railway, complete with steam trains, connecting to Pickering. The local bus service connects to Whitby, and the other villages of the North York Moors. The towns of Pickering in the heart of the North York Moors, and Whitby on the coast are less then half an hour's drive away and can also be accessed by rail as mentioned above. York and Scarborough lie approximately 50 minutes drive from Glaisdale. Whether you want to see the beauty of the North York Moors with its expansive moorlands with hidden valleys and waterfalls and industrial heritage or the stunning Cleveland coastline, Glaisdale is an ideal base for your stay.
For food and drink lovers we are surrounded by great pubs and restaurants, and for those wanting to cook for themselves, great suppliers such as award winning butchers, fishmongers and smokehouses.
Please note we also have our sister property Postgate Barn next door. This adjoins Postgate Nook, and has its own separate private garden and separate private entrance, but the two outside areas can be linked if required by opening a gate. Larger groups of up to 10 people could be accommodated by booking both properties.
ACCESSIBILITY GUIDE The property is a conversion of traditional farm buildings. As such, there may be some compromises to accessibility. Car parking is approximately 60m from the entrance door and access to the property is along a path which is reasonably level and includes a ramp, however there are 2 steps to access the property. The bedroom, bathroom and toilet are on the first floor, accessed by stairs.
PETS As we are a working farm, unfortunately we do not accept pets.

Property was immaculate. Mark and Moira.where amazing, went way over and above without being asked. We would recommend this wee star of a place to anyone. Views are amazing, and the peace and quiet, just wow.
Beautiful place to stay. Great hosts and beautiful little cottage/barn.
The best duvet and pillows ever!!! Feels like sleeping in the clouds.
Landscape is simply breathtaking.
We had a lovely holiday at the Postgate Nook. It is a cozy house, tastefully decorated. The kitchen is complete. The wood stove provided warmth and extra atmosphere on cool days, although the temperature inside was always pleasant.
The terrace offered a beautiful view of the valley and beautiful garden.
Mark and Moya are very friendly and helpful. Nice people. Are always available. They make every effort to make your stay more pleasant and also respect your privacy.
The great location in a beautiful region and the contact with Mark and Moya gave us a wonderful holiday.
We arrived late from a very long journey from south east England so we're tired and hungry on our arrival ,Moya and her husband Mark gave us a warm welcome and we're so extremely kind making us a food parcel to make a meal out of to save us venturing out after 8pm when not many shops open or around in the village. The property was exactly how was described and for anyone wanting quiet countryside with rolling hills as a view ,you won't be disappointed. The beauty is you are completely remote away from the hustle and bustle but only a 25 minute journey away from Whitby and other more busier towns and places to visit .The owners left us to our own devices which was appriciated but also were there if anything needed or any problems arose . Recommended, kind regards Alison & Tom
Booking process was easy property was as advertised no surprises property owners were fantastic really enjoyed our stay will definitely recommend and would love to go back

There is absolutely nothing to criticise with this property - only praise. The decoration is tasteful, the additions such as wine, coffee and bath bombs are thoughtful, the owners were lovely and the setting is breathtaking. It is the perfect couples' getaway.

Quiet, clean and welcoming
This property is just right for romantic couples of any age looking for a quiet space to 'catch their breath' away from busy lives. It is clean and well equipped and the hosts are warm and welcoming without being intrusive. Lovely views, accessible footpaths and 'big skies' complete the picture.
This is a wonderful little hideaway in the picturesque Yorkshire Moors. We enjoyed a couple of nights away for our 25th Wedding Anniversary and Moya and Mark could not have been more helpful. Car definitely needed but in easy reach of Whitby / Pickering and lots of choice for pub grub. The cottage had everything we needed.
Hosts delightful and so helpful and cottage immaculately clean. Thoughtful touches like fresh flowers, milk and wine! The cottage has beautiful views. It’s very private and super quiet. We stayed for one weekend and liked it so much we booked for the next weekend too. We are very happy to have found this place and will return again.
Our second stay at this beautiful cottage in the most stunning location. Cottage so cosy and comfortable with everything you could need and very friendly helpful owners. The location is perfect for nature lovers we saw deer on our way out one day - watched rabbits and lambs from the garden, amazing bird life, a nature lovers heaven ! Ideally situated for all of NYM and Whitby and driving distance for a day out in York. Thank you Mark and Moya for another lovely stay - we will most definitely return !

Relax and unwind in a beautiful setting
This super cottage, perfect for a couple is one of the nicest we have stayed in, you won't be disappointed, from the lovely welcome, the wine, biscuits and bath bombs, all the special little touches made our stay perfect in this immaculate cottage. We enjoyed walking from the front door but the station isn't far to go further afield if you don't want to drive. Yes, we would certainly recommend and hope to return one day.
The property was as described, i did not realise there was another rental next door. The views were amazing. Not too far from the main road about 3 miles. Lovely walking from the cottage.
We had a fabulous time. The views of the surrounding area were so beautiful. The fields were dotted with cows, sheep, rabbits and even an owl came to visit! We went to the Egton agricultural show, and many other places on the coast and in the dales.
The accommodation was cosy with all the kitchen equipment you needed. The bed was very comfortable too. Our hosts were very attentive and friendly. Would certainly return and recommend it to anyone who wants to chill or be more active.

Lovely stay in a cosy cottage in a beautiful valley
We had a wonderful break at Postgate Nook. The cottage has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Loved the character of the place, the wood burning stove and beautiful views across the valley. Lovely to see so many stars in the dark skies and watch the livestock being taken out to the fields as well as the birds singing away in the morning. Highly recommended for a peaceful break. We spent most days walking in the beautiful countryside. The cottage has lots of small touches that really make a difference. Thanks Moyà & Mark. All in all a restorative break.
We had a lovely time at Mark and Moya’s property. As hosts they were friendly, helpful and we really appreciated the welcoming touches as well as the insider knowledge of what to do in the local area. We made the most of the tips we were given and spent a very enjoyable and relaxing few days in the middle of rolling countryside and an idyllic setting.
The cottage itself was as described. It was cute, well maintained, cozy and comfortable, stocked with everything you need for a few days away. We have wood burning stoves at home and it was a great addition to the cottage; keeping it warm and welcoming throughout our stay. The bed was comfortable and as mentioned above, the setting was wonderful.
We would thoroughly recommend staying here if you are a couple wishing to experience all the area has to offer and it has the added bonus of being owned by two wonderful hosts!
The property looks really nice online but in person it's even better. It's old fashion and cosy but also meshes with a modern feel - we had access to everything you could want (including a really strong Wi-Fi connection).
The hosts greeted us and went over everything we needed to know - they had a great knowledge of the surrounding area and pointed us to some great local spots including a lesser-known waterfall which blew us away when we saw it. They were also on hand whenever we needed.
What really set them apart was the numerous small touches from candles, board games, DVDs, a comprehensive information book with all flyers they had collected and other things.
The log fire was an excellent addition and really sets a great atmosphere on colder nights. There was ample firewood on hand to see us through our time there.
Overall, we loved our stay and will definitely be looking to return. For anyone looking for a perfect little getaway...this is the place!

Absolutely wonderful.
Lovely little cottage, ideal for two. Stunning scenery from the main living area. Everything exceptionally clean and tidy. Kitchen/dining area well equipped with just about everything you need. Upstairs, the large double bed is extremely comfortable, with the bath shower unit in the room. The toilet and wash basin are in a separate little room off to the side, and all towels and linen supplied. One small criticism, which could be easily rectified, is the lack of 'vanity' space. A couple of corner shelves by the wash basin for soap, tooth brushes deodorant, etc. A shelf under the bedroom mirror for make up and one behind the bath would make this delightful cottage perfect. Mark and Moya made us feel most welcome, and I would recommend their cottage to any couple. Many thanks, John and Christine.
