High quality property in a peaceful location
We’re a family of four that was looking for a short escape from the frenetic urban environment. This cottage is in an amazingly beautiful and quiet location. You can enjoy the birds singing with a lovely view from the back garden and great views of the stars on a clear night. The property is of a high standard, as described, very warm on cold days and the hosts are incredibly friendly and welcoming. Well located to see the moors and surrounding towns and cities.

Cosy New Year break
Perfect property for 2 couples to celebrate New Yea. Very warm (so much so we did not light the log burner) and lovely views over the valley. Kitchen area is small but well equipped. Located in heart of fabulous, very quiet walking area.

Gorgeous and peaceful
One of the best cottages we've ever stayed in - very clean and comfortable, and full of character. Weather wasn't great but we still had a great time and the view from the cottage was wonderful. Hosts were super kind and attentive and very helpful. Many thanks!

Charming retreat in picturesque countryside
We were completely charmed by this off the beaten path adorable cottage located in simply STUNNING countryside. Mark and Moya were very considerate hosts explaining the layout of the land and local attractions catered to what we wanted to do and see. A simply wonderful place to stay
This was a perfect place for two couples/friends to enjoy being together. The countryside was beautiful, the view spectacular and the barn a pleasure to be in and so well equipped. A relative short distance to the coast and some beautiful dale’s villages with some great pubs. It was a wonderful week.

Fantastic hidden gem!
Beautiful accommodation - quiet, beautiful walks, views, friendly locals. Ideal for taking two teenagers - they had their own bedroom bathroom and sitting area. Easy reach to the tourist attractions and hosts were welcoming, organised and nothing was too much trouble.

Wonderful stay

Set in the most picturesque surroundings but not far from the lovely coastline the property was more than we could have expected. It was spotlessly clean with everything and more that we needed for our weeks stay, the fixtures were of a very high quality as really was everything in the barn. Not to forget Moya and Mark, such lovely hosts, nothing was too much trouble and they went above and beyond to make sure we were settled and had everything we needed. A massive thank you for the lovely welcome gift and for making us all feel welcome. We would definitely recommend the barn and hope to return again soon! Fantastic short break
We had a wonderful holiday at Postgate Barn. The property is beautifully finished and full of character. It’s also very well appointed and has a spectacular view across the valley. The location is fantastically remote, whilst also being within easy reach of Whitby and the coast. Our hosts made us very welcome too, highly recommended!

Hidden gem
The Barn has been cleverly converted for use as a holiday home, easily accommodating four adults and fully equipped for a relaxing stay. We had a week in July and despite the recent prolonged dry spell the countryside was beautifully green and the location is peaceful. The hosts are welcoming, available if needed but the Barn is completely self contained and private. They have thought of just about everything and the welcome goodies were much appreciated.

An Amazing Easter Break
Marks property is just fabulous. Warm and cosy with everything you would ever need. The views from the garden are idyllic. We saw such a wide range of birds on the feeder and so many baby rabbits. The train into Whitby is a short distance away and it’s much better than driving. We arrived early and were welcomed into the house and given lots of advice on where to run ( not me) and lovely walks. We would definitely go back to such an amazing property.

Amazing accomodation in a stunning location
The accommodation had everything and more for an amazing stay. The linen was of high quality and the kitchen was more equipped than other properties we have stayed and of great quality. The media equipment was first class and the underfloor heating made it really cosy. The location was stunning and very quiet with some good walks straight from the door. We loved our stay and will definitely be returning

Absolutely Perfect
The Barn is a beautiful property, Marc and Moya have put a lot of work, love and care into creating this amazing house. We couldn’t have found a better place to rest and relax after a long transatlantic flight and chaotic COVID testing process, it was perfect. Marc and Moya went out of their way to help and communicate with us prior to our arrival and we’re the perfect hosts. Make sure you follow Marc’s directions to the property and ignore your GPS if it takes you down over the moors especially if the roads are covered in snow and ice and you’re driving a tiny 2 wheel drive rental car!

We tried to get up the steep road out of the Dale on our way to the airport and found it covered in ice, so we had to turn back!!

We stayed here for a short break. What a wonderful house. The barn has been presented to a very good standard, offering everything you could possibly need. Location was excellent for us, beinv away from it all, having fabulous views, and just a short drive from amenities and the coast. Mark and Moya are excellent hosts. We received detailed directions, and a lovely personal visit from Moya helped us with deciding where to explore locally. Highly recommend this accommodation, it is beautiful inside and out!!

Tranquil haven in the middle of the moors.
This property was beautiful. We loved it. Loads of space both inside and out. We enjoyed the well cared for garden with the moors as backdrop. A great place to read a book and watch the birds. Amazing place to stay.
It's nice to be the first guests to visit The Barn since its conversion and place a review on the site. We visited the Barn over the Christmas period and had a wonderful time. Mark and Moya were excellent hosts and even festively decorated the barn for our visit. We had excellent communication with Mark and Moya before hand and they responded quickly when we had queries regarding internet codes upon arrival. The place was spotless, warm and welcoming. It had everything we needed and more. We couldn't fault it at all and cannot wait to return in the summer. It is obvious a lot of effort has been put into the conversion and the specification of everything is high end. It has also been tastefully furnished. We felt so at ease from the minute we walked in. All I want to finish off with is by saying well done Mark and Moya. You have got this spot on. It caters for all and all occasions. If you don't visit you are missing out....

We had a great time at Postgate Barn. The barn is refurbished with plenty of work and a lot of love to a realy cozy and lovely location. It´s wonderfully quiet and it takes only a few steps into the moor. The accomodation includes everything for the stay, even everything for the first cuppa tea or coffee. Thanks for Mark an Moya for giving us a warm welcome. All of us enjoyed the time (even the teenagers due to technical equipment) and we hope to return sometime.
