"Hotel is old needs renovation, expensive for the old feel of the hotel"

"I had to change rooms because the first room had mildew in the shower and the heat was not working. The second room had a loose faucet and knobs in the bathroom sink and they had to come and fix it. Wallpaper was peeling off the walls."

"Hmm, this is a hard review. This is the only oceanside inn in La Jolla. It is charming and ideally situated, and for sure we would stay there again, but we didn't get a good night's sleep in three nights as we could hear every creek in the room above us, and the shared space was right outside our room, and the other guests weren't considerate. 5 stars for the room and the location, but ask for the 3rd, top, floor!"

"This place was okay. Nothing amazing or terrible. The place is being renovated so there was painting etc going on. Overall the staff was very kind and helpful.. except for one person that wasn’t helpful at all. Our room was a newly renovated room..but it needed some work still. The phone didn’t work, the shower was backing up, and there were ants everywhere. With that being said, the bed was comfy, the walk to the beach was easy, and breakfast was decent. It was within walking distance of some tasty food so that was nice. I didn’t take advantage of the pool or free parking but those were perks as well."

"Wasn't told from Expedia that hotel was going to be under construction and parking lot was closed. Parking had to be done through valet which I didn't mind but not being to access my vehicle right away was definitely not fun. Overall staff was understanding of the situation but the construction needs to be disclosed from either the hotel or Expedia."

"This hotel is very unique and once you enter it and are on the grounds, you feel like you could be in Paris, Barcelona, side streets of London. It is such a little boutique, wonderful spot with great service and the difference between all those other places is la Valencia has unbelievable ocean views. Our room was Via Eleven and it was marvelous spotless, and a very good size with a beautiful patio overlooking the park in the ocean. The concierge and the front desk staff were great. We were loved the valet guys and they made us laugh so we felt right at home. I would definitely recommend this hotel. "

"Staffs were friendly and cordial. Parking (valet) was easy. Location is great! You can simply walk to the La Jolla Cove from the hotel. I really recommend this hotel if you are going to La Jolla/San Diego."
