Orrest Head House, a majestic Lakeland property a moments walk from Windermere village.

Orrest Head is the perfect party house with it's own bar and private location. This 5 star house has direct access to the Orrest Head walk and large grounds for the kids to run wild in, yet is within a short walk of Windermere village where you'll find cafes, shops and bars galore.

The property features 5 ensuite bedrooms, 2 with in-bedroom baths that over look the extensive gardens. The lounge and dining room both seat 18, if you rent Orrest Head Cottage (to the rear) everyone can eat and socialise together. The kitchen in Orrest Head House is where everyone gathers, it's the perfect place for lazy breakfasts and relaxed evening meals. The beautiful gardens at Orrest Head House make a great playground. We have parking for a fleet of cars and a fast EV charger for those with electric vehicles.

We welcome up to 4 dogs at the property. There is an additional charge per dog, which can be added at check-out.

Bringing family together

Orrest Head house is an excellent property. Not only is it a lovely house, but many details have been thoughtfully prepared, likely through long experience of providing homes for visitors. It is these ‘extra touches’ that turn a good house into a comfortable home, in which each member of our extended family could find both private space and gather together as well. We highly recommend Orrest Head House both as a place to stay and from which to explore this beautiful region!

An excellent place for family and friends gatherings

Excellent facilities, house well equipped, comfortable, and plenty of space within the house. Shops, cafes pubs and restaurants close by. Close to bus station to travel throughout the Lakes without using the car.

Great holiday home

We had a fantastic week at Orrest Head to welcome in the New Year. The house has a really comfortable and welcoming ambiance. The in house pub was a great hit with all of us. Lovely power showers too. Would love to return in the summer at some point.

Fantastic house in Windermere. 5 en-suite bedrooms beautifully presented, Dining kitchen perfect for our family. Bar was cozy with log burner blazing - perfect! Large garden area great for games. House private & just a short stroll to town centre.

Incredible stay

The house was perfect for my best friends hen do. It blew her away with the size, location and the luxury elements. Each room has its own bathroom, there’s multiple communal spaces and the driveway is huge. Would highly recommend to anyone.

Family Gathering

Had a wonderful family gathering at Orrest Head House. The house was perfect for our needs very spacious and well equipped for the number of guests. The house itself has interesting features and a great bar! Location is ideal , perfect for walks, transport links , Booths and Windermere. Wouldn’t hesitate to book again.

Booked this house for reunion of friends, comfortably held 9. BBQ provided which we utilised, huge fridges so could store drinks. Walking distance into Windermere, use of the garden for ball games. Just a great place will be coming back

Fabulous property in the Lakes

We had a wonderful family New Year’s break at Orrest Head House and could not recommend it highly enough. The property is ideal for a group stay, with ample off-road parking and plenty of space to relax and enjoy time together. The location is a real highlight. Although the house feels wonderfully secluded and peaceful, it is only around five minutes from the hustle and bustle of Windermere. There are excellent walks straight from the front door, which made it perfect for exploring the area without needing to drive. We also travelled with dogs, and the setting was ideal. They were able to roam in and out freely without any concern about traffic or nearby roads, which made the stay far more relaxing for everyone. The owner was extremely helpful both before and during our stay, providing thoughtful suggestions on local walks, attractions, and great places to eat. This personal touch made a real difference and helped us make the most of our time in the Lake District. Overall, Orrest Head House exceeded our expectations and was the perfect base for a memorable family New Year’s break. We would happily return and recommend it to anyone looking for a well-located, comfortable property for a group getaway.

Fantastic Property

A beautiful property with fantastic gardens. It was a delight to spend a week there, sat in the garden amongst the mature trees watching the wildlife go by. Out of the town but with regular, easy bus commutes from the train station a short walk away. I would recommend it to any large party.

Amazing place!

From start to finish this was the perfect stay! The owners were more than happy to help with queries before our stay, replying to emails quickly. The house had absolutely everything- including champagne glasses to make our stay super comfortable. So much space and lovely rooms, brilliant en suites and a fabulous outdoor space meant we could use it all to make our hen party weekend perfect. We had 12 guests and there was plenty of room. Would highly recommend - we are now thinking of an excuse to return!

A celebration of my 80th Birthday with all the Family

It was the ideal place for the whole family to gather to celebrate a big Birthday The catering for a Dinner Party on Saturday was a great success and the Company suggested by the owner could not have been better The location of the House was perfect for us to enjoy a boat trip on the Lake and the surrounding area for walking the dogs. We also enjoyed the Garden for a BBQ and playing lawn games that the whole family could join in

Perfect stay

This house was absolutely perfect for our group celebrating a hen party. There was 12 of us in the main house and there was ample room for us all. The beds were extremely comfortable. The location was perfect for walking into Windermere and a short taxi from Bowness. The house was clean and had all facilities that were needed for our weekend. The communication from the hosts was brilliant prior to and throughout our stay. I would definitely stay here again. Thank you for a fabulous weekend!

Perfect for our family celebration

We combined our booking at Orrest Head House with another at one of the Terrace houses as our group for a family celebration was too large for the house. The accommodation was ideal for our group. The house has a good range of en-suite bedrooms and excellent spaces for gathering together. We mentioned a few items that were in need of repair and/or maintenance to the owners. Overall the house was just perfect for our needs and provided the perfect venue for what was a truly memorable family occasion.

A Little Gem tucked away yet 5 minutes walk and everything at your fingertips

Orrest house was everything and more we could have wished for. Location & condition fab and the bar topped it off. Great family room for the evening, the beds were so comphy …. The kitchen is very well equipped with two large larders. We got wet and there were dryers to use … the grounds were absolutely gorgeous and we had great family time playing rounders and cricket. Didn’t want to leave …. Thank you

A house with a rustic charm yet with a well equipped modern facilities.

Lovely house which is well sited close to Windermere. A blend of modern and rustic facilities. Very well equipped kitchen and superb bedrooms with en suite facilities. The dining room and kitchen chairs were a little uncomfortable and cushions would have been appreciated. A large front garden well back from the busy Windermere/Kendal road. I was a little disappointed with the outdoor furniture, not very comfortable but since the weather was poor we had limited use of it.
