We had an enjoyable week at Sock Cottage and spent most days out either walking or visiting gardens, of which there are many within an hour's drive.
Everything in the accommodation was spotlessly clean (I can be picky about this!) The bed was large and comfortable and it was nice to have the option of summer-weight (one) or winter-weight (two) duvets: so many places give just one so you're always too hot or too cold.
We ate in quite a lot so were glad of the good selection of crockery and utensils. We appreciated the provision of toiletries and the generous amount of delicious breakfast items.
There is lots of easily accessible parking space.
Our hosts were pleasant, friendly and non-intrusive.
Sarah’s place is a lovely quiet spot and her attention to detail is excellent. We had free roam of their land and it was so nice to see her horses. The apartment was very comfortable and everything was to hand.
A heavenly pastoral retreat with all the amenities one could want but at the same time within easy reach of many sites of interest. A walk across the fields to a local pub or a drive to a nearby National Trust are two of many options but a quiet relaxing day away from it all in a wonderfully appointed cottage is a great option.
Just what we needed for a few days away in this quiet and pretty corner of Somerset. Sarah was very helpful and welcoming. The fridge was stocked generously with breakfast materials, which was much appreciated, as were the flowers and thoughtful touches everywhere.
Lots of places to visit nearby: gardens, NT houses and pretty small towns, such as Martock and Somerton.
Delightful cottage, beautifully equipped, and with wonderful hosts. If we lived in the UK, we would make regular visits as it's in a beautiful location and is so very comfortable. Sarah & Andy are delightful hosts who responded very quickly to any questions we had before we arrived, as well as during our stay.
Great location for local trips out, very peaceful and pretty location, generous and excellent host, comfortable, cosy cottage, well equipped and nicely furnished.
Most enjoyable. The property was well equipped and well supplied with fresh and interesting provisions. The owners were thoughtful, friendly and most helpful. Everywhere was very clean and the property was supplied with good quality equipment.
Very helpful owner, delightful welcome hamper of local farm produce. Pretty property, airy and light. Very well appointed. Beautiful surroundings, straight onto long distance footpath. Lots to do in area.
Andy and Sarah were extremely welcoming and gave us a refreshing weekend break in their exquisistely converted barn. Nothing was too much trouble. Didn't want to leave!

Really beautiful surroundings and the cottage was just perfect!
We were met by both Sarah and Andy in their own home and offered tea and cake. They took the time to chat and get to know us without making us feel awkward. Full of local knowledge and tips about the area.
We settled into the cottage and headed straight out for a walk around the local area (Ham Hill). Recommendations for food were well thought out and we had a truly lexcellent meal (Lord Poulett Arms). Everything about our trip was thoughtful and of the best quality. And the welcome pack was possibly the best we’ve ever had in a stay like this!
Thankyou both for such a lovely little weekend away from it all.

A perfect stay!
We loved our stay at Sock Cottage; aboslutely perfect, fresh, clean, bright, and most importantly serene.
However, our booking experience and follow up with HomeAway was absolutely horrible; we had to find the place ourselves through research and GPS coordinates because HA did not provide an address even after numerous requests. We tried to reach HA on line and by email, no response, also followed up after our stay, still no response.
Be very careful using HomeAway, in my opinion they are very unprofessional and provide virtually no customer service or even a way of talking to a human when problems arise. Sock Cottage is a 10 out of 10, Home Away scores a 1 out of 10.

Delightful retreat for two in the heart of Somerset
Enjoyed a lovely two night stay in this beautiful cottage . Sarah was the perfect host and welcomed us with a cup of tea and apple cake which was much appreciated. The cottage has been renovated to a very high standard and much thought has gone into making it an extremely comfortable place to stay. The decor is neutral in a palette of cream and grey and every home comfort has been catered for.
After a long day of sightseeing we enjoyed sitting out in the private courtyard with a glass of wine enjoying the tranquility and beauty of the surrounding countryside.
An added bonus was the provision by the hosts of locally sourced bacon, sausage, eggs, mushrooms and tomatoes as well as other breakfast basics which were all delicious.
We visited Montacute House and Barrington Court , both superb National Trust properties and enjoyed exploring this lovely area.
We would highly recommend Sock Cottage as the perfect getaway and you can be sure to receive a warm welcome from Sarah and Andy, the ideal hosts.

Excellent cottage to stay in for a lovely holiday
Lovely cottage annexed to the main farmhouse, developed to a high standard, well designed, very clean and comfortable. Set in a quiet, peaceful location. Well equipped kitchen, very comfortable large double bed, great wet room and comfortable settee and chairs in lounge area. Sarah and Andy gave us a lovely welcome and we were very grateful to have local produce supplied – sausages, bacon, delicious bread, egg, milk, tomatoes and mushrooms and other things – all much appreciated. Good pubs and restaurants not far away. There are a number of National Trust properties around the area and we visited Montacute House and Tintinhull gardens. We also visited the Fleet Air Arms Museum which was well worth a visit. All in all an excellent place to stay.

17/08/2017 Sooooooo relaxing we were in heaven
What a fantastic place to recharge batteries and just take a well earned break from the hustle and bustle of "Life"
Sarah and Andy are great hosts, they are friendly without being intrusive, nothing was too much trouble and the extras they give buy simply just being themselves is very refreshing, we had come from a hectic bus tour to the slice of heaven in Yeovil, it feels like you are deep in the country but in reality its just a quick pretty drive to the main shops if that's what you want. Sock Cottage was exactly as I imagined, it felt like stepping into a house and garden lay out in the nicest way possible, the design, layout and furnishings were so well done, the shower to die for......... very high standard of finishing so the chilling out was easy.
Andy sent us off one day to Durdle Door - Lulworth what a sight. We will come back in a couple of years we are from NZ so need to save save save to get back to the UK
Thank you Sarah and Andy two of the nicest people in the world.

Pure Farmhouse Charm
We had a wonderful stay at Sarah and Andy's place. We were greeted with a glass of sparkling wine and welcoming conversation. The guest cottage is new and fresh and decorated with darling farmhouse style, and furnished with modern appliances and plumbing fixtures. Sarah laid out so many nice things to meet all your needs, like the usual shampoos and soaps, but also cotton balls, toothpaste, a loofa, and more, in the bathroom. And she provided farm fresh eggs, veggies, breakfast meats, milk, cereal, butter, coffee, tea, jams, and more in the fully stocked kitchen. We were able to take walks across the pasture and look at the beautiful view across the countryside, play with the yellow lab who loves to fetch, and pick apples from the apple tree. The place is out in the country, but there are many small picturesque villages nearby to explore and have dinner in. And you should schedule some extra time on your drive from London to stop at Stonehenge along the way, or just view it from the road as you drive by!

Angleterre authentique
