The Hotel Continental is not the newest building but it has wonderful staff who made our stay delightful. We only wish that we could have had a longer stay!!

Specifically requested for a room with balcony view of the mountains but was given a room where I can see someone else’s balcony. The room was so dim could barely see anything. There was no one at reception so had to call and ask for a change of room, the staff came by an hour later. The staff gave a better room, I must say the staffs are very hospitable. As for the room and the property, I paid 300 SGD/night for that room which was totally not worth it at all, the bed and mattress provided was that of the dormitory or helper’s room with metal frames where you can feel your back and the thin mattress sinking to the metal frame. The floor creaks, the ceiling has paint cracks, overall the property is very worn out, and totally different indication from the photos which mislead me into booking. It really needs to be furnished and revamped. Definitely not worth the expensive rate paid for that kind of room.

The location was great and close to all activities. The biggest concern was the room was extremely worn down and seems to be not updated or matched to the main/front entrance. The room has not been modernized to match the decor of the main entrance. It was a disappointment.

Creaky floors but great location
I’m going to start out with the good and why we booked, it is a great hotel for its location, the train station and center of town for easy walking everywhere. Now the room, we were on the 3rd floor and it was a nice size and the bathroom was great with a large tub. But the floor creaked and squeaked so bad, we felt bad for the people below us because we heard every step the room above us made. Also the window opened for a little air but with the courtyard below and outside sitting it was noisy until pretty late, but if you closed the window there was no air and it got horribly hot, no A/C or fans. Breakfast was good and staff friendly.

Overall, wonderful, clean, comfortable hotel in a great location. Only thing I didn’t like was that they told me it would be 75 CHF to send my adapter that would fit in an envelope to Geneva which is not far at all. Seemed pretty ridiculous to price gouge your customers that way.

Was a great spot for our first trip to Zermatt. We missed a flight and arrived late and the self-checkin was very easy. Staff was very friendly, and the breakfast was great.

The room we had was backed up to another rooms balcony. It was a corner balcony and if I sat on the balcony the next balcony was like two feet above ours and the person seated there was like 3 feet away from ours. No way you could not have a conversation with your partner without the other room listening in. The bathroom was new and updated, awesome, but the bedroom was just ok, lots of room but needed updating as well, walking across the floor was creaky and noisy, we wondered how the room below us was with the noise above. The receptionist never told us that the gondola going up to the Matterhorn closed at 2:00 in the afternoon, we asked about hiking trails and is the reason we went to Zermatt and she had almost no suggestions or information on hiking the area for the summer. She suggested the gondola ride up but when we got there it was closed to go to the top, we were able to go to the first landing of the gondola and get off and hike down on basically the road. Not the reason we went to Zermatt. Having good hiking maps is important for summer guests. 3:00 check in left no time for activities in the area after arrival.

Great location in Zermatt. Only 5 min walk from train station. No cars in Zermatt. Good breakfast nice balcony room was good size. Bed comfy. Fridge in room. Off the Main Street so noise was not an issue.

Awful Bathroom
Hotel in good location. Subpar bathroom - safety hazard. Bathtub too high for most people. I am 74 inches and had hard time getting in and out. Easy for people to slip and fall. In addition, a vent running across ceiling preventing me from standing completely upright. Easy to bang your head.

We had two renovated rooms and really enjoyed our stay. Breakfast every morning was great which was included. A few things that were unexpected that are worth knowing (although we didn’t mind) - there’s no fridge in the room or ice anywhere in town (you need to leave any food and drink out on the balcony in the cold), the lights in the hallway are operated by a button so you are in darkness when you come out of the room or first enter the hallway, there’s only one physical room key which can complicate splitting up groups
