Great stay, as always

Always a fun option. The rooms are small, decorated with university of CA, Berkeley swag. Easy check in and a place to park which is valuable in Berkeley. Decent food on site, thousands of restaurants within walking distance as is the University.

First room we had smelled funky and the floors were damp. We asked to be moved and they moved us promptly. Staff was kind and responsive. The room and furniture was definitely outdated and could use updating. But what we came for was the indoor pool and hot tub. The kids were able to enjoy swimming even though it was a little chilly outside. Even my 18 month old was able to tolerate it as the pool was heated.

2nd time at the Kissel. Overall the hotel is nice and clean. A smaller 7 floor hotel which I like with a restaurant in the lobby that has limited hours. The rooms are nice and clean and well appointed. One of the recommendations I have for the Kissel is the staff are not as pleasant as one expect from the Hyatt. When I was checking out the front desk person asked me if I was someone else when the bill clearly said my name that was put under my door that I gave to him. He also checked me in and repeated my name over and over and was very pleasant the evening before. Maybe he was having a bad day....the valet was no where to be found when we got there and we parked the car on the street and then when we went to check in he was at the front desk talking to his coworker. Speaking of parking its 65.00! They charge tax on it of $11.00.
